Can someone tell me how the fast charge battery system works.
Was told that idling the engine from cold could cause problems with the emission filter?

First hand experience this morning. Our battery had gone from 90% to 40% with a day and nights use. This morning I started the engine and pressed the recharge button and there is a notable increase in revs of about 3-500 rpm. When you check the battery on the main panel you get the green bar gauge going up indicating charging. Within 20mins I was back to 90% so very effective. It's going to be a saviour wild camping.

Really interesting, I didn't buy a 600 due to the lack of poptop but also had a similar problem when away at half term in our Hymer. We have two 95amp hr batteries and 200watts of solar but after 2days with no sun our levels dropped low.
We have a compressor fridge and diesel powered heating, I was told on another forum to run the engine for a few minutes when turning on the heating system as it's initially power hungry which made sense.
However another contributor said that this was liable to cause engine damage by letting a engine run on idle for a number of minutes from cold.
Not sure that's correct, what does the forum think?

Running an engine and then not letting it fully warm does the DPF no favours regards unburnt particles, it also causes acidic levels to rise in the oil.

We had to do a charge this morning again.
Watching and listening more carefully there was absolutely no change today in the revs or the audible sound of the engine. It added 40% to the battery in 10 minutes.
