First oil service - does it need to be done by VW?

My Cali is 1.5 years old, done around 13k miles, and the MFD is telling me that the oil service is due. I have the 5 year service plan, so the first two-year service will be due in November 2018.

Do I need to have the oil service done by VW to keep my warranty and/or service plan intact?

Any ideas roughly how much it'd cost?

Thanks - bit clueless on this! :thumb

General consensus is for warranty peace of mind, potential of goodwill* and best service history for resale then stay within the dealer network for the factory warranty period and after that you can look to a specialist indie if preferred.

*Not a huge VW trait admittedly...

I think, but am by no means sure, that the 5 year service plan is two services and two oil services.

Our first oil service fell due when we were in Spain, and needed to be done outside of the UK and therefore outside the service plan. My dealer has assured me that I still have four services (two minor and two major).

Do you know if there is a time constraint on this plan. I have the same 2 minor and 2 major) but wondered it VW had put a time period on the validity of the plan.

Had my oil and filter changed last week at main dealership cost £64.25
