Hi, new Ocean 204 DSG 4 motion - intro, thanks and issues to be aware of!

Hi All,

Firstly a short introduction and an enormous thank you for this great resource and the assistance you have made to informing our purchase of a new reflex silver Ocean 204 DSG 4Motion with black cascovel wheels, side bars and other accessories. Furthermore informing us about what other non VW accessories to buy for kitting out the van has been invaluable. I will share our firmer views after our first proper trip.

In the meantime we have had a few great days away on the south coast to test the van out. A fantastic experience and in the main everything worked very well and much better than we expected (we had previously hired a T5 180).

However things that didn't work and new buyers should be aware of and double check; -

1. Side Scan failed on way home from dealer - new unit on order from Germany.
2. Remote for auxiliary heater failed - now reprogrammed.
3. Lip on front LHS of fridge came to loose within days - new part on order.
4. Most worryingly all 12v sockets, both cigarette lighter (engine battery) and 4 (leisure battery), had issues! Had blown 4 USB chargers (Garmin, Tom Tom etc - worked previously in VAG vehicles). Into dealers, checked and informed all working - volts, amps and watts! In front of Customer Service Manager proceeded to check - first socket (behind passenger seat next to 3 pin plug (hook up) - actually popped with smoke when checked with brand new charger. Van left with dealer - socket was no longer working, no fuses blown and 3 technicians scratching their heads! The good news following day, socket replaced and all power sources seem to be working. Advice given was not to use cigarette lighter in front as a power socket, different to other 12v sockets and more likely to short out if charger not aligned correctly!!

I pass this on for others who have recently picked up a new T6 to double check that all is working on their van.

I will report back with anything that might be useful to know and a more comprehensive introduction, thank you and review.

Once again a very big thank you to those that have assisted (all but unknowingly) in our decisions and purchase.

• QTM carpets for T5 fit T6 - with 4Motion only needing the 2 rail option, they have upgraded their site accordingly.
• Comfort dash on T6 Ocean 204 has second USB in phone cabinet in addition to 'glove box'.
• First long (170 miles and return) and fully loaded journey sticking to speed limits - showing 35mph (with air con) and 37 (without air con - on return). Expect to improve a little once over the 1,500 mile mark?!

Thanks Gavin very useful. Only one question is the Comfort Dash. Is this an option that does not appear in the pricelist that you need to ask for in order to get the USB in phone cabinet?

Hi Mike,

By default, it came with Discover Media Navigation system plus when we ordered in September last year. Dealers should now have a better idea of what is available, specs etc. Good luck!!

Just google QTM carpets - search function good. Made to order but deliver in 5 working days. You can ring directly, they are very helpful. We ordered the 900g prestige ones in mid grey with black surround and are very pleased with quality, fit and price. Also very easy to put down.
