I own a T6 2019 4motion DSG. On several occasions when climbing passes, recently in Italy after stopping for a short period on an incline I have been unable to engage drive when on hill assist. I have it in drive but have to rev the rpm, typically then wheel spinning off. On several occasions there has just been not engagement of drive.
Has anyone else experienced this on a DSG, is there a sequence I’m not following? Is this dual clutch wear? When this happens I have to dive for the hand break to prevent it rolling back. It’s concerning as it usually happens on a steep hill and incontrollable Hope someone can shed some light. Ps recent DSG oil change, engine oil and Haldex but happened last year in the Dolomites prior to this too..

Just an update on this. I have checked with Swansway Oldham VW. Service department know nothing about any software/ driveability upgrade for the T6 DSG and not an issue they have ever heard of.
I’d be really interested to know who has had this upgrade, what it was called and who did it.

I had it the dealer Told me my vehicle had received the update , a dealer will not issue any paperwork regarding updates.

Updates are applied by VW Germany when the vehicle is hooked up to the mothership. I.e. the dealer needs to check for updates by connecting your van to the Factory.

This forum has multiple threads regarding DSG issues that were resolved with a n update applied by VW. I posted several threads above.

Suggest another dealer !

What mileage has your van done ?

Have a read of this - see post #15

Yes, tried that before to be honest could really feel any difference.

Service by independent VW ‘specialist’ . Lost faith in main dealer for anything that was not just routine.

The hill start issue I experienced happened last year in the dolomites then again this year in the Alps. It seems to coincide with strain on the engine climbing passes, then stopping in a pull in and restarting on an incline. Pedal down but no power transfer or revs. Hence why I thought it was connected to the hill start release after load?

For clarity, Before and after the DSG oil change

I’ve previously spent (over time) the best part of £1500 at a trusted independent. Only later to be told by Volvo… a pipe work modification was the only way to fix the problem… “free” whilst the car was in service. They said they would not be issuing a recall :-(. I refuse to pay stealer prices but on this occasion I was literally throwing money at a problem only Volvo could fix…

Plan on trying the Liverpool Swansway garage tomorrow and asking if the software update is a real thing. As I say their Oldham garage said there was no such thing.

It's not just this forum, it's a thing , the fact your dealer doesn't know sums it up . Try VW U.K. or Germany ?

I hope that convinces you that the dealer hasn't got a clue or doesn't care !

That may be an issue , that the dealer did not carry out the service therefore not interested !
