** Important News: New Vehicle Registrations on Hold

I think the fact that it’s winter is very fortunate. I wouldn’t be so patient if the sun was shining. Actually quite pleased that I haven’t picked up my van as planned this week. Can’t imagine worse weather to take delivery of a new car!
Yes, I agree but some of us have had to cancel weekend trips away planned in March, cancelled car sale etc etc. Yet no real info from VW and highly unlikely to receive compensation. Add that to the fact we paid for a DSG and many people are now getting a free upgrade. We are not impressed with VW so far.

You are getting what you ordered that can't be so bad.
So many here paid for the DSG too. But I get your point

So when you contacted VW Customer Service you weren’t offered a Loan California as others have?

Have you told VW about this?

I have been dealing direct with the dealer. They have not offered anything, but to be fair, it is only late now as of today! I can't be doing with the hassle of swapping insurances etc, so we have kept our car and will put it back up for sale as soon as we know a pick up date, assuming the delay is fully explained once made public. If this goes another 2 weeks I may look at it differently as we had trips planned.

Play hardball, ask for a demo Cali as you have booked trips and they haven't fulfilled the order.

We are trying to remain reasonable about this, but if we don't have it in the next 2 weeks, we start missing things like Grandsons 3rd birthday camping trip away. Appreciate all the advice from everyone and realise most of you are In a similar dilemma. Having thought about this, maybe it is time for a call to VW by next weekend.

When I placed my order, the dealer straight up offered me a vehicle to use "the odd weekend or whatever" in light of our 33 week lead time. I have no doubt he would've made good on this but at that time I don't think he could've known the mess that was coming. In his case, they haven't got any spares lying around. No deliveries in months, everything has been sold. ..The two he has on site are unregistered due to this ongoing saga.

I suppose when the green light is given to register the vans the ones that are caught at the dealer will clear prior to the circa 3 weeks it will take the ones stuck at the factory to arrive. So it should if anything be a quicker process than normal...wishful thinking?

I ordered a new golf gti at the weekend, I have a sneaky feeling I will see the golf first!

Just had confirmation that the golf build slot is week 12... the race is on!

There are plenty of used demos for sale in the UK.

The loan Cali we have from VW customer services isn’t from our dealer it’s supplied by capital hire in London. It was a brand new petrol ocean that they literally collected new from a southern dealer and drove up to us. We’ve had it for 2 weeks now.

No need to play hardball, just ring Jay Mitchell at VWCS and chat it through. We sold our car and had trips booked and they sorted us out within the day, literally.

My dealer didn’t know anything about this until I told them and they were v pleased. Jay speaks to all the dealers too so they know who he is.

Agree, That's my point. You don't ask you won't get. It's not exploiting the situation, it's VW's big f*** up again.

But, Capital Hire have none left, all out apparently. I have been chasing one for two weeks now and unsurprising'll they have ten on order but no idea when they will arrive. Sounds familiar.

I am afraid I lost it with Jay's manager today, after being told that he had no idea when the problem with deliveries would be resolved or who within the VW CS department could provide the real status of the issue.

Promised a call back on Monday with some meanifull information. I will not be holding my breath.

I can understand your frustration.

It might be also very frustrating for UK VWCS if they genuinely are being kept in the dark by VW Germany. Every time I've spoken to Jay I do get a sense that he is being sincere in what he is telling me and that it really is all he knows. This episode is certainly going to be one for his own CV marked under 'handling challenging situations' as he must have literally hundreds of upset customers to talk to every day about their delayed vehicles.

Fingers crossed more hire Calis get registered ASAP. There shouldn't be a supply problem as it looks like they are buying petrols and VW have stopped taking orders for diesels at the moment so the factory (unless in shutdown) should be able to speed petrol models through asap.

Either that or VW centrally just need buy back/recall all of the demo stock at dealers and dish it out as loan vehicles to those of us waiting.

From everyone I've spoken to and everything I've read I still believe that the problem is with the Nox during the DPF regen process only and that they have developed the fix and it is sat with the KBA in Germany for approval. Until they approve (or reject) it, we wait. It would be nice for this to be confirmed properly though.

Information is that VWUK is a seperate company from VWGermany. Seems each country has its own importer seperate from the manufacturer but aligned as a type of franchise. We blame VWUK but truth is, on this occasion, the Germany manufacturer not UK is totally to blame. If the approving authority is playing silly b's there is little VW can do as all concerned are terrified of falling foul of the EC and greens in this time of blame and shame. I feel for those in the queue and hope the German directors put their hands in their pockets and give compensation. No use shouting at Jay or anyone else as they are just doing their job and as out of the loop as the rest of us.

As usual, thanks all for sharing knowledge/experience of calls. Ours has been sat at the dealership now for 2 and a half months, whilst our dealership have provided a loan car, and I appreciate they're in the dark like we are, we're just starting to reach the end of our patience of being promised news within the week. Which seems to have happened too many times now! I don't think we have progressed at all since that first call in December actually.

Meanwhile, we've got ferries booked for a pre-Easter Europe trip. Fingers crossed for a loan Cali to come through in the next fortnight.

We haggled hard on price, and I want to keep a good relationship with the dealer, but I'm now wondering what to expect/demand out of this. Others have got a free (enforced/unwanted) DSG upgrade. Maybe a free bike rack?!

Jay has always called me, not the other way round. Could someone share/PM me his telephone number please?

I'm amazed at your patience and how relaxed you are. I remember when my van arrived at the dealers it was only there for a couple of days and I found it hard to relax! I even went to visit it just to check it was being looked after well :)

I'm so relaxed that I'm spending very disproportionate amounts of time on this forum reading about how happy others are (or aren't as the case may be) with their already delivered Calis. Surfing for bits and bobs and mods and ideas.. dreaming of getting finally getting out on the road!!! AAARRRRGGGGG!!

Sorry had to vent a bit... I'm better now

Our new Cali ocean is also sat at the dealers just waiting to be registered, but can't be released. We were told that it has to do with the re-catorgoriseing of vehicles, whatever that means. It seems strange that the delivery date on our paper work states 14th March although they said they hope to be able to release it before then. We believed this to be a uk problem, it's budget day on 13th march!

The "Re-Registration" infers the affected diesel engines cannot satisfy the Euro 6 real world emmission test for the category VW brochure tells us they will be compliant with.

Result: loss of face for VW, and they would be in beach of contract (goods supplied to its customers not to the advertised specification).

VW could ask its customers to accept the "re-catorgised" goods which means the vehicle supplied will be one VED first year charge band higher. Example, a 4 motion 204 DSG first year VED goes from 800 to 1,200 pounds. Of course VW would have to suck up this cost, not us. There is then the question of compensation for us if we accept goods that are not compliant with the specification on which our contracts are based. You can see why VW are acting the way they are.

The fix will be to completely comply with Euro 6 and nothing else as all vehicles sold since the cut off some time ago must be Euro 6 and if not VW would be buying back an awful lot of vehicles. Dealers don't know more than we so I would take any comments with a pinch of salt until VW make an announcement. The longer they take the more we will distrust them. Typical big business arrogance towards their customers.

The hire companies must be enjoying this. They would have expected these first few months to be quiet (low occupancy) and now they have all their vans hired out 100% of the time at £120/day. I'll have 2 vans from Monday. I wonder if I should give Jay a ring ;).

I’m new to this forum having ordered a T6 Ocean 150 DSG in September 2017. I’ve been following this thread in particular over last few weeks and been excited one moment only for hopes to be dashed by the next post. My dealer told me a month ago my vehicle was completed but being held at the factory. This morning he emailed me to say it had now been released from the factory and ‘he assumed the issue’ had been resolved although VW hadn’t issued anything. He said he expected the vehicle to be in Uk in next 3 weeks. I’m not sure if this means the issue has been resolved or the vehicle has been released to make way for what must be a huge stockpile of California’s, Caravelle’s etc building up at the factory. I hope my hope/expectation isn’t dashed in coming days.
