** Important News: New Vehicle Registrations on Hold

Have I gone mad or was there some merging of threads that makes my post look ridiculous!
Yep!

Around the same time my post about the tailgate dropping was also merged into an older post on the subject so my post was totally out of context and made me look a bit of a bozo.
It does make it easier for Members if Threads on the same topic are merged to keep Information in one place.

Duty first year band J £800, band K £1200.
I paid £185 in October 2016.
A good number of free tanks of fuel/camp site nights.
It's still only 1 - 2% on the cost of buying the vehicle, and has rather less of an impact than the exchange rate has had on the list price since we bought our California 18 months ago. I’m with @itguy that it’s not going to have much effect on the purchase decision of a £60k vehicle, annoying and arguably misjudged though it might be.

Hi All,

I’ve just been on vw’s customer service live chat with Ismahil, he told me that my van (204 dsg) is not affected by the production conformity issue, apparently it only relates to the 150 manual models...

However they are still unable to give me an update on my build (w/c 4th Dec).

So, do we know what the model is that the poor owner is waiting for who started this thread? Is it a 150 manual?

Is anyone waiting for a 204 of any kind with it at a dealer and can’t be registered?

I have a friend who has ordered a Beach and is currently waiting on delivery. They have already paid in full for it as they were told it was built then shortly afterwards received the following email....

I've told them to go direct to VW UK and speak with customer services for some answers. I am just wondering if anyone else has heard about this?

Cheers in advance.

Hi california
I do not think that customer services are correct. We are waiting for a 150DSG which is currently at the dealer but cannot be registered.
I must agree with another comment about the time it takes for VW to provide correct information.
This story originally broke in an article in Der Spiegal on the 8th December and in 3 weeks all they have done is muddy the waters

I was due to take delivery of our 204 DSG 4Motion next week and have today received this via email:

I have just received some communication with regards to engines on Non-Commercial Volkswagen Vehicles and I am afraid that yours is affected which in turns means that it is on hold and blocked from registration.
We have not been told why and the only communication from Volkswagen Brand is that no Californias, Caravelles or Shuttles with Diesel engines are to be registered or released until further notice.
There is a helpline from Volkswagen for customers who have questions or concerns and this is – 0800 093 0151 (Customer Services Centre).
I am happy to chat through this either in person or over the phone but as mentioned I do not know details or timescales at this time.
My apologies – I understand that this isn’t good news at the start of the year, I hope we will have more idea in terms of timescales etc soon.

I’m so disappointed - pleased to have been forewarned on this thread but was holding out hope that no news was good news for the 204. :(

Sorry to hear that @Jans2, I think there are a few of us that will be receiving these emails in the coming days/weeks.

Confirms that it isn’t only the manual 150tdi manuals that’s affected. Odd that it’s been removed from the configurator though.

Maybe the people in positions of power at vw commercial vehicles HQ aren’t even telling their own staff the full story, hence the conflicting information from the various vw customer service people around Europe.

It’s a very sorry state and you would have though vw of all organisations would be as open as possible when communicating ‘production conformity’ issues that involve Diesel engines....

I spoke to dealer who is also in the dark. As for identifying the 150 his thoughts were it applied to all engines otherwise they would have cleared the others. Bad that VW dont even update their dealers who have to placate the customers. Shame on them.

Ciao a tutti,

Hello to all, This is a problem that remains concerned for all buyers of this fantastic vehicle. It is really a bad thing to interrupt a dream and leave the desire at stake for bureaucratic measures and above all not to give certain information. Also because it is not a means that can be replaced by opting for another alternative and probably VW is aware of it. Question ... the means that will be built in the future will be stored and then resumed for the modification of the firmware ?? My vehicle that should be built in week 6-7 will already be up to the standard ?? My seller is still not aware of any news about it, crazy !! :( And then ... do you think VW takes into account what is written on this forum? Greetings to all and thanks to the forum for all the information that I collect

Non penso che VW sia molto brava ad ascoltare i clienti. Non penso che leggeranno questo, ma potrei sbagliarmi.

Scusa, ho usato Google per tradurre. :)

Just been chatting to our local Cali dealer and they were adamant the only restriction they have received relates to 150ps M1 class T6 models (Cali, Caravelle etc). Others getting ordered, registered and delivered as normal apparently.

Can't beat VW for consistency...

I spoke to my salesman half hour ago and he seemed to think it was only the 150hp.

Which dealer was this?

Different dealers say all M1 vans and all engines are subject to the bar. I would suggest wait and see as conjecture by a dealer is just that. They are as much in the dark as we are. VW is just taking its time as usual but it is a bad show by them.

So I rang the Customer Services Centre number today as given to me by my Dealership and was put through to 4 different departments - all of whom said they needed my vehicle registration number to assist me - after explaining each time that it was my vehicle registration being on hold that I was telephoning about - this simply resulted in me being passed from one department to another without achieving anything at all. But I will be trying again tomorrow - and asking my dealership to double-check that this problem applies to the 204 as well as the 150 ... but I’ve got a sinking feeling about all this ☹️

On the up side, all credit to my local Dealership, they have asked if I need to borrow a vehicle, which is a well meant olive branch.

Hi all,

Anyone have an idea why new Cali's are not being registered.

Was meant to get mine this month having ordered in July now told indefinite delay with no reasoning.

Love VW's hate their terrible customer service and nonsense build times.
