Interior lights

I need to replace the 'bulb' in the light fitting above the sink/gas rings which looks like a simple case of removing the two black screws at each end of the fitting. Obviously I have tried this, but they won't budge. It all looks a bit fragile and I'm concerned that brute force and ignorance will damage the fitting/threads etc.

Before I apply said brute force and ignorance I just wanted to check that I wasn't missing something.

No you're not missing anything. Use a wide thin flat blade driver of table knife. Anticlockwise, obvs.
