Kitchen to strut replacement

I've purchased a replacement strut for the kitchen top. The attaching bolts at each end are different. The top one has a slotted while the one at the sink end to attach the strut is either an Allen key headed bolt or a pointed star headed bolt, I am struggling to determine which it is and want to avoid damaging the bolt head making it more difficult to remove. Can anybody help?
Please advise.

Assuming it's a one piece glass as on my 2015 SE the allen key needed is a 2.5mm.
The bit it screws into is a 7mm spanner size (or metric adjustable !) as you may need to hold this as you tighten the allen bolt.

Thanks Eddie, you are correct - one piece glass 2011 SE. Superb detail and prompt in your response - thanks for your help on this, much appreciated.
