New T6.1 order delays

So ordered 4th December 2020 and got it last Friday. Fully spec. I can’t tell you how painful it all was but as they say, the minute you drive it it just falls away.
204 S TDI 4 motion in Starlight Blue. Just love it.
It now being PPC so will show more pics when back and our first trip.
Hang in there everyone! I will miss this forum but it’s time for me to move on.

So we finally called VW here in Switzerland.
Last time we call had build week 36 (which turn out to be this week) but I didn't even remember it because, you know, everytime it changes.
So we call the dealer, and of course, there is yet another delay to week 40... which indeed is pretty soon, but I am so tired that I don't care anymore when it comes.
As many of you have said in the past, I don't even care if I need to wait 1 more month or not, it is just that you can never trust that the build week will happen until it happens...

So my van arrived at the port on 31st August and it’s still there, I think this part of the wait is harder than waiting for a build slot as I know it’s built but still weeks away from delivery

We ordered a 2.0TDI 7SP DSG 4MOTION on 7 Jan 2021. We were originally given an estimated delivery date of April/May. This was later updated to September and we were then given a confirmed build week 26. With this confirmed build slot we were told to expect delivery in August and on this information we have optimistically been planning a holiday in Europe in September/October. The latest information from our dealer is that the vehicle is at build stage 7 - awaiting missing components (semiconductors). It appears to have been at this stage for a number of weeks now and the dealer is unable to get any further information about when to expect further progress. Is anybody else in a similar position and have you any more granular information about the forecast availability of these infamous semiconductors. Many thanks for your help

Yes in the same position - ordered 204 with sports pack + tow bar— 2 December. Stuck in the factory since July 23rd - semi conductor issues.

Blame those blummin’ electric cars. Typically a Ford Focus has 300 SC’s. A pure electric car has 3,000. With everything else going on this is one of the main issues. Production just can’t cope with new demand.

Well, a full 49 weeks from initial order, the dealer informed me yesterday that my van is now sitting at Emden awaiting a boat. With any luck I’ll get it before the order anniversary….

Another question is whether you can again lock/unlock with your phone via the WeConnect app, and switch on the parking heater. I understand you could on MY20, the feature was unavailable on MY21, but was set to return for MY22...

It’s at stage 7 and has been for the past 6 weeks now. I couldn’t do the retrofit given the work they need to do to have it done correctly.

Anyone know if this upholstery is new for 22?
I was playing with the configurator as my Ocean will be MY22 to see what - if anything- is changed from last year. I'm almost certain this isn't the standard 21 upholstery but can't really remember.

cheers. looking at those i’m 99% sure the standard cloth was mixed dots when we ordered in April. We didn’t change it.
I assume it’ll turn up with Circuit if it’s now MY22?
Think I prefer it to mixed dots tbh!

In the UK the only choice when buying an ocean (MY21, now MY22) is for the Circuit/Paladium unless you paid for ArtVelours, the other options were only for Beach/Coast.

Hi all
I've got my cali ocean 6.1 its away at the moment but just preparing for the first trip. I've got a COVE2 ari low vango tent. Do I need to buy a driveaway kit? if so, which one 6 mm or 4 mm?

I’m sure you’ll have sorted by now, but the drive away kit needed for attaching to the vans standard awning is the 4mm/6mm kador strip. We bought a Vango one, and it comes in a handy bag to keep it all together and clean. The kit comes with 4 no. figure-of-8 strips, and a Kador strip which is longer than needed. It’s good to cut the kador to the correct length for the Van awning channel, otherwise it tends to kink when wound in to tension the tent. Just use a Stanley knife. We also cut one of the strips in half so you don’t get lots sticking out, which is a potential safety issue (and looks bad). Junior hacksaw for this.

To be honest it's a bit of a mixed bag. We're lucky enough to have a couple of friends with caravans and another with a great white so there are plenty of times that one or more of them are away and send out an open invitation (we just find it hard to say no at the minute). But you're right, if it's just us, it tends to be a last minute hunt within a certain area and see what we can come up with. Found a lovely, riverside, adults only site near Kings Lynn this weekend for £21 per night, including EHU so off we went. Big thumbs up to Grange Farm Touring Park, Whittington. Highly recommended.

Our Coast has just docked in Newcastle!! Rang the dealer today and finally got some good news. Ordered mid February. Build week was 26 (28th June) so has been in build 11 weeks!! We’re almost there!!!!
