New T6.1 order delays

My Coast is ready and I'm picking up this week (3 sleeps). Ordered early August. Strangely the postie brought me a parcel today and I was met with the usual suspicious eyes from my wife asking 'what have you ordered now?' I had absolutely no idea and was still confused when I opened it until I read the enclosed letter from the Director of VW Commercial Vehicles. It was a huge VW camper emblazoned fluffy picnic blanket as a thank you for my patience. As nice as it is and I always appreciate a gift, I do hope that you Ocean guys get a little more. Did anyone else get one?
No but I want one ! I’ve had no communication from VW at all and this is what I don’t understand - some do some don’t , I wonder if going through an intermediary ( autoebid) means you don’t get VW contact .

Received the same blanket (ocean order) - appreciate the sentiment and it seems VW do understand the frustration caused juding by the tone of the letter. Its slightly annoying that earlier in the thread random orders received a £500 voucher which i think is more in line with the compensation most are expecting.

Makes no difference. Going through AEB or any other price site is irrelevant becasue all they do is pass your "hot lead" to a dealer for a fee. Everything after that is done by the dealer and your order (and details) registered on the VW system. I used one and have had the recent VW letter direct from the UK office.

I ordered through Autoebid. My comms went along the lines of no news, no news ,no news then oh, it's built and on its way! Then a blanket :)

I never received an estimated build date at any point.

Still waiting for mine, wonder if my picnic blanket will be status 20? Going into build?
Perhaps someone should tip the post office delivery staff off so they know that people might burst into tears when they deliver anything that is remotely soft and ‘sorry for the delay’ blanket sized ! I remember all to well an awkward moment when I considered hugging postie when I got my ‘you're in’ magazine from London marathon after 5 or 6 unsuccessful attempts. That was pre Covid so we might get pepper sprayed today !

Oooooh a picnic blanket, it won’t soften the potential additional three month delay and £3k + price increase, but if there are picnic blankets being posted out, I want some of that action!

Great news for those of you with Coast orders that are being built / delivered. Obviously we’re gutted to be delayed, but genuinely chuffed for you all and can’t wait to see your photos.

Ordered our California Ocean 29th June 2021 and just had confirmation that it has gone status 20 with production week 20. Given all the delays starting to feel more confident now. Hope others waiting on this forum are getting good news soon too.
I think 3 people with oceans have said the same thing now, Week 19/20

It’s due to be knitted once all the Coast blankets have been made ;)
All we need is a another round of covid and the blanket factory closing and I’m giving up.
Do you think the Ocean blankets will be made of cashmere or nylon like coast blankets ?

I'm going with bits from the wiring harnesses

More good news here. Just heard from the dealer that my Ocean ordered in April 2021 and originally due to get built next week is indeed going into production. His message sent this afternoon:
Latest update on this from my dealer: no updates since my Ocean was marked as having gone into production on the 31 March. Looks like it’s stuck in some sort of limbo. It’s “in production” but body build hasn’t started.

I thought that there aren’t any codes (and assume updates on the build) between status 20 (production week confirmed) and status 30 (in transit from factory)?

There isn't afaik but I think the dealers can see more detail than just the status codes on their system once production starts.

Sure I've seen screen shots sent to buyers (probably on this thread) where it showed progress down to the level of fitting of optional extras and assignment of VIN etc.

We need a photo!

Of the blanket, not the van!!

If it’s picnic blankets for the patience shown by Coast customers (I use that term as loosely as VW seem to). Those waiting for Oceans will be getting a Fortnum and Mason hamper, two week timeshare villa in Tuscany and a cuddly toy.
Or if they really want to reward our patience... a complimentary tank of diesel ;)

FInally an update on mine (150 Ocean 2WD ordered April 2021):

Although it will sail past the latest delivery estimate of early May, it is BUILT and has a VIN - awaiting transport to northern Spain (road, rail or sea for that, do you reckon?) which will take about another month, so looking at around 14 months all in.

I expected to be, I dunno, excited, grateful, relieved, or something but at the moment I'm just, meh... another month. I'll perk up nearer the time - and I think this means I can start shopping for a few bits for it: Didn't want to jinx it before now!

Rang dealer today( Liverpool) told that at status 10 with provisional built week 23. Ordered end of June 21. Going to be over 12 months from ordering. Trying not to buy anything, well not too much
