New T6.1 order delays

So, dealer has just come back to say the cost for the extra years warranty (5 years or 80K total miles is what he has specified) is £50 + VAT. Just to be clear, that's to add to the 4 year extended warranty (with 4 years servicing / breakdown) being offered by VW as standard with new vans ordered before June 30th last year.

Seems ridiculously cheap and a bit of a no brainer.

That is brilliant and exactly what I shall ask for (for My June 21 ordered Ocean) as was told previously they didn't think the 4years warranty cold be extended to 5 years.

That's a brilliant offer, I have just asked our dealer for the 1 yr extention too. Will be interesting to see what they come back with.

Did your dealer indicate this was a special offer (as recompense for the delays etc) or is that a regular price..?

Coincidently I got a call from our dealer just now to say our Ocean is at UK port so asked if he could add the 1 year extension for £50, he said he'd never heard of that but will go and find out, I'll let you know how I get on......

No mention of anything special. Waiting on the invoice so I can arrange payment, will let you all know if it has any special codes etc on it.

Got my invoice, only text on the invoice for the warranty is

"VW EXTENDED WARRANTY 24 months 80k miles Differenc"

Exactly like that

Great stuff.

I spoke to the dealer on Tuesday and they said it arrived (or the system was updated) that morning at Tyneside and would take 10 days to get to them. I'd assume all this recent spate of deliveries came on the same boat, so not exactly sure when they will get it. Not long now...

Well it's being measured in days now so that's a huge improvement.

Mine came into Grimsby last Wednesday and I think arrived at the dealers yesterday so taken a week and I'm collecting a week after that. Fingers crossed you will be picking up sometime around 13th based on those timings.

After all that stress, the end is in sight.

I got a reply from the dealer…good news the Cali will be with them beginning of next week.

But they said they only way to get 5yr warranty was to take a two year extension, I’ll tell them about your offer if that’s ok…? I don’t want to screw up your offer though..!

When you finally get a build week, is this the week that VW start the construction of the base vehicle transporter or when the the conversion from transporte to California happens.
 
Just got an email from my dealer to say that after placing my order on the 20th March 2022 it has now been given a scheduled build date of week 40 (3rd Oct 2022).
They stated it would be with them 6-8 weeks after build completion so should be with them in December apparently.
How long is the build period or is that down to what was chosen on the options?

Hopefully shouldn't be longer than a week or maybe two in normal circumstances, however atm that could be one or two months (mine took about 12 weeks) depending on what parts are / aren't available etc. Does seem like things are improving supply chain wise recently though, so fingers crossed for something quick for you.
 
I'm planning on getting a 17" spare wheel/carrier/jack/brace for our imminent Cali arrival (as we have the optional 18" wheels, it only come with a tyre pump and goo).

Has anyone ordered these bits..?

I had a quick quote from VW "The total price of all parts required, including a 17” steel rim with a budget Landsail tyre (235/55/17 103W) ) would be £413.02 inc VAT."

I've asked for a breakdown of the items as I'm not sure if the kit would include jack/brace.

Any other options to source the bits..? The club shop sells the carrier and also the safe lock, so could go that route and find a spare on ebay etc.

Hi, could I ask what model/spec California you ordered? Sounds like production is moving a lot faster now and yet some orders (like mine) haven’t even been given scheduled build dates. Any help greatly appreciated
