New T6.1 order delays

Do they all go to the same U.K. port and is the Malacca highway the ferry they use?
Yes the Malacca Highway is a vehicle carrier ship. I think the ports they use are Sheerness and Immingham (maybe others). VW Chat confirmed that mine will land at Sheerness. I guess they decide which port based on the location of your dealership? I.e. north or south

I know it’s sad, but you can track the ships movements.159D29A5-CD76-4007-BCD9-5783195E8A7C.jpeg

Yes, up to a month. Mine’s been sitting at Emden for over a week so hopefully it will be on the Malacca Highway on Friday. Then 2 day voyage, 7-10 days at Sheetness and a few days at the dealership.
GG how do you know MH is sailing back to the U.K. on Friday? Have you become a ship anorak?

Haha. I’ve deduced that it normally does 2 return trips a week. Inbound from Emden to the UK on Mondays and Fridays :)

My week 41 was built and arrived in the post of sheerness on the 19th.. today I finally got the call to say it’s arriving at the dealer today and arranged pickup for Thursday afternoon .. excited is an understatement.. he also said suspension and bike rack are in and will be fitted as part of the PDI before Thursday..

just 2 more sleeps!

Todays update is as follows

"So currently your order has been accepted by Factory and we are just waiting for them to confirm a build week. The Factory are going through RDE1 to RDE2 change over which should be completed by next week, so I would recommend coming back through to us again next week and hopefully they will have updated the status and we can check this for you. "

Just checked up on my order for the first time. It is in status 20, build week 43, and should be finished this week. I guess this will therefore be one of the last RDE1 cali's to be built.

How sad am I ,tracked the boat that could be carrying my Cali Neckar highway currently moored in emden setting of to Grimsby 30th October LOL

Well I caved today, not great news, but not bad either. We are still at week 43 build last week so I assume still in production. Chat did share it was assigned week 41 originally but got put back to week 43 in that week.

this bloody ship spotting is fun, I see the City of Rotterdam which has been used is also setting to sail for Grimsby Friday. I was sad and tried spotting where Californias sit at Emden on Google Earth, what a dockyard that is. Pity it isn’t live :D

I’ve done that too :)

I did same yesterday and am in much the same situation originally week 41 then week 43 chat confirmed the van is in production and might be worth contacting again on Friday! Mine is going to almost pass my house on it’s way to Liverpool might start van transporter spotting on M62.

I’ve just had a call from my dealer. Our Ocean (150) is mid build but has come to a halt due to lack of parts. I know VW work on JIT so this is plausible. COVID is obviously being blamed but uncertain as to which parts are the problem and what the delays could be. He’s confirmed it will be RDE1 which means registration this year. Has anyone else heard this? I haven’t checked this VW chat as they said last week build was provisionally scheduled for W/c 16th Nov!

The factory is switching over from RDE1 to RDE2 this week, so assume new vans starting to get built from next week onwards will be RDE2 not that the difference is much as far as i know.

Please take note of the following before using the configurator. Due to the changeover to the new emission norm Euro 6d (RDE 2) the model you have chosen may be different in terms of technical features and consumption figures when delivered after November 2020.

My build week (Status 10 - unconfirmed) has just been brought forward from week 9 to week 7 (w/c 8 February) for a 150 Ocean.

Sorry to hear your build has stalled but at least you have a dealer paying attention. Most of us are badgering VW chat for updates!

How did you manage to get a build date out of them?!!! That far away as well.

The lack of updates/courtesy calls from the dealers is not great. I'm not impressed to be honest. How difficult can it be for them to find out and fire us a quick email update? For the majority of us, this is far more than just a normal vehicle purchase. It signals an exciting new way of life and we are all super keen to get our hands on our Cali's. In the meantime we're busy planning and buying bits and pieces. I'm sure we'd all love a weekly update at the minimum

I’m afraid it’s a common gripe on this forum that dealers don’t proactively give updates. The best way is to go on the VW Chat. They are super polite and helpful.

Yeah I've been on there loads. As you say they are very polite, but I've found different agents give different, or more useful information than others! I hate it when they just say "no date yet, try next week".
Beth is the one you want...(not that you can choose)
