New T6.1 order delays

Looks like starlight blue

I have ordered the same colour. More pics when you pick it up please.
It is indeed. You won't regret the colour - looks amazing but it's impossible to do justice with a phone pic in a dark garage! Proper pics to follow

Hi @f3fisa
Would you mind checking your V5C to see if your Ocean has been registered as a Pricate Light Goods vehicle with a motor caravan body type?
I’d be grateful as there is a theory mine has been mis-registered as such.
Thanks I’m advance
Tim
My V5C says Private Light Vehicle with Motor Caravan body and vehicle category M1. I think this is correct, is yours different.

Love the colour! Getting Starlight Blue on our Beach.. What are those wheels called?
The wheels (which happen to be my favourites) were the 17" standard fitment here on the MY2021 Cali. VW Spain doesn't spec alloys as standard even on the Ocean.
When we rolled over to MY22, I thought I'd lose those wheels and get the 16" steels with hubcaps, but happily it's turned up with the old ones. Wouldn't be the end of the world as you can buy them new of 80 quid each, and they must be practically free 2nd hand.

when I saw this a year ago, I was sold

Can't wait to see it in the sun!

I ordered starlight without seeing one - I was undecided between that and the metallic red.
My dad had just passed away and his T5.1 (inherited by my sis) is dark blue, although not Starlight so I went for that. When we get up to the UK in Summer, they'll look great parked up together in a field somewhere!

A few months later I saw both colours in a carpark side by side. Still love the red, but sentimentally I guess Starlight wins out.

I like these a lot. It has a simplicity to them which suits the California.

not available on UK spec Californias

Great news, did your dealer mention anything about side assist?
Edited: assuming not as you’ve already got a confirmed build week.

We’re still waiting for an update from our dealer, but it has only been two weeks of trying to get hold of him *insert rolleyes emoji*. On the plus side, I’m hoping we’re now two weeks closer to a build week.

Love seeing everyone’s good news updates - looks like lots of lovely vans arriving in time for summer.
I was going to ask about side assist, but when he told me the build week, I didn't bother. Good luck getting hold of your dealer. 2 weeks is appalling.

Mine is blank...
V5C.jpg
And my Rotherhithe Tunnel appeal decision stated:
"The vehicle is classified as a goods vehicle as an N type vehicle when referencing the vehicle category section of the V5C"

Seems yours is both a goods vehicle (N1 is a van) and a car (M1 is a passenger car).

I'm more confused than ever.

Considering raising the inaccuracy IF a PLG can also be M1 in principle...

Thoughts very welcome @andyinluton @WelshGas @Hawthorn37

So now that Oceans are in production, does that mean that everyone has received their Coasts?
Sad that Coasts can no longer be ordered.

Not me! Ordered Coast early September 21, a build date of mid March was the last we heard then nothing since. Really hoping for some news soon!

According to our dealer, our Ocean has gone into “build” today - 2022-05-18.

Does anyone know actually what “build” means…? Do they literally start pressing the body panels, build the engine etc…..or do they take an already built Transporter and start cutting the roof off, putting the kitchen/bed in…?

I think you must have the last Coast!
Might be worth giving your dealer a call. It could be in transit.

The latter. This article may help - https://flamencocampers.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/VW California Factory.PDF

The build takes around a week and then the Van is sent to the car park to schedule onto the relevant transport to the country distribution. From a Status 30 (in build) you should take delivery 6 - 8 weeks later. All the parts, including the body, are ordered at status 10. Status 20 means they have all been confirmed ready to move to production, status 30.
