Noisy/Creaking Awning

Just spend 2 nights in a light wind with the awning out all weekend and had disturbed sleep due to the creaking the main awning housing was making. The wind wasn't excessively strong so wasn't concerned about the awning being unsafe but just got hacked off with the constant creaking type noises it was making. Sitting there during the day it was obvious that it was the main awning housing that runs along the length of the van that was causing it. Maybe it was just the unique angle of the wind hitting it - the wind was mainly coming from the drivers side rear corner - or maybe the awning needs tightening up or something?

Anyone had any other problems like this with their factory fitted awning?

Many thanks in advance.

Yes, winding back in a little puts tension on things and reduces creaking and flapping.

To be honest, I pretty well always tie the awning down as well; if the wind springs up and you are sleeping soundly, a lot of damage can be done if the whole kit blows up - seen it happen . . .
