Very good point ref extras but my current experience with my local dealers is that they either think I'm wasting my time or don't really want to get the deal done. So far DTD is winning although I know I'll have to eventually make contact with a dealer going through them. I was happy to go for a pre-reg T5 but the dealers seem to be holding firm on their values so with a T6 only a little bit more expensive it is a no brainer. I now understand many of the comments about VW commercial dealers....

Hi all
Been shopping around for a while now, 4 written quotes and several not willing to email a quote but asking for a call, a big variation in discounting, lowest 3% and highest 7% as well as a wide variation in product knowledge but one thing in common, little details on delivery.
So far my best response and assistance has been from Benfield Motors north earth, only one detail left to sort, at the start of this search my wife and I decided to visit the Motor home show next week before the final decision and although we are 99% just making sure before parting with 50K+ a pity none at the show for comparison, I'll let you all know the final bill after the show.

Hi all,
Just an update on our progress. We are comparing a dealer offer with DTD. Bit complicated to compare as DTD quote an OTR price (49540 )and then provide a discount on the OTR price and factory options. Dealer does a discount on the basic vehicle price and factory options.
Looking into it, DTD OTR price is £850 greater than basic manufacturer price so assume OTR includes delivery (£702 inc VAT according to dealer) registration and 6 months license. I may be wrong.
Will keep you updated as trying to calculate the overall discount from both options and will make a decision this week.

So on my reckoning ...
DTD works out as 7.81% on the OTR price
Dealer discounts are not offered on the OTR price , it is offered on vehicle and factory options.
For the dealer to beat DTD they would need to offer 7.96%

Hi again, update on my search, Benfield made a few errors on my quote missing £1k of options, no wonder the price was low, bottom line they are only offering 7% on vehicle and nothing on options.
All is not lost, Guy at Preston VW deal looks good at 8% on the whole vehicle so it looks like a trip west.

Try Mark Wheelwright at Yorkshire VW too. https://www.volkswagen-vans.co.uk/van-centres/volkswagen-van-centre-(west-yorkshire) I'm looking forward to getting mine from there in the New Year

Just for reference everybody - I ordered a T6 Kombi LWB DSG with a total of £7k of extras 4 weeks ago and got 9% off the list price. Trade in value on my 2011 Sportline Kombi was offered at £16k but I've since sold it privately for a lot more. Delivery is scheduled for week 49.

Also for reference.....I had a price from my dealer this week for a T6 Transporter LWB 140ps and was quoted -10% on the van and extras. Shame it doesn't seem possible to get that on the cali.

About £4k off our 150 4motion with a few extras.
Due in March.

Managed to receive an 8% discount on a T6 VW California 204 Auto from VWVC Birmingham. Collected it on the 3rd December 2015. It's awesome! Extremely happy with the Mojave Beige.

Ordering our 204 DSG 4motion Ocean on Tuesday , can I ask what deposit you all paid. We have been quoted 8% discount atm. Going to see what extras I can wiggle from dealer! Don't ask don't get

£1k deposit when we ordered ours in August. Build week two of January. Whoooop!!!

1k deposit also, this must be standard. I was surprised as I expected the deposit to be 10%

Dealer is asking 10% deposit but promises 11% discount :) Another dealer was asking 50% deposit :))

Hi all,
Little update on discount achieved. Having now paid for the van I have the real figures.
Due to option/pricing changes from VW, a discount from the dealer, a deposit contribution from VW for finance and me sourcing my own upgraded 17inch alloys on eBay I have saved approx 11.5% on list!
Very chuffed with that.

A canny buy, well done.

Most of it was happy, lucky timing and going to a dealer who doesn't mess around.

Well done, great update. Just got off the phone to Guy. Van made and shipped, whoop whoop! 1st March planned pick up. North West will be a Cali hot spot!:) Look forward to seeing you on the road.

That is great news! You must be very excited. 6 weeks to go!
We must get a NW Cali meet sorted.

Hi, we got 9% using Drive the deal, they give you that discount straight away. Ordered T6 150 DSG Ocean in November and expected delivery end of March.

We got 7.5% without asking from Mark Wheelwright (great guy) at West Yorkshire van centre. Ordered in October and got the £750 deposit contribution from VWFS on our PCP which runs for the first quarter of '16. So even if you want to pay outright it is worth taking PCP to get this contribution then pay it all off after the first two monthly payments. :thumb

You can pay it off immediately. I've just done that. The dealer just asked I waited until they received the £750 from finance to make sure they didn't lose out. It took 7 days for them to have that cleared.
So it cost me 7days interest.

Thanks for that daveyboydanger, we did that on our golf for a £1000 deposit contribution last year and the salesman said we had to wait until after the first two payments. I assumed that it would be the same this time and didn't think to ask if it was any different. Worth doing for the contribution imho.
I see you have also picked up your van recently, congrats. Have you been phoned by VW for the dealer survey yet?
