Hi,

We have just been away for our second proper trip and had the awning up with friends staying over. We had power from the campsite to the van power port and then ran an extension out through the window and into the awning to power lights etc.

The heavens opened and we had drips coming in the window. Can i connect a blue end campsite plug with a 3 x 3 pin RCD extension cable into the awning and then using an 3 pin standard plug adaptor to blue end run a cable to the cali. I won't have to have any windows or doors open through the night then?

Thanks

Craig

Yes that is basically what we do. I have adapted the 3x3 RCD unit to have a wire coming out from it to the Cali so that I can still use the 3 sockets I'df needed.

You may find it better to branch off from the incoming EHU cable before it gets to the Cali.
You can find 2-way or 3-way splitters online eg

Then have a separate RCD protected power strip in the awning.

The advantages include no wires across floors, through doors/windows, leaving power to the awning if away in the vehicle, and leaving the Cali internal socket uncluttered.

Thanks for both points. Either will sort the immediate problem and allow the awning to be powered when the Cali is out and about.

Cheers, Craig
