Very strange fault with the hook up power.

Exactly the same thing happened with mine. Lighting storm, power surge, slow blow fuse on inverter / charger blown. Replaced fuse but inverter / charger still broken. I ended up getting VW to replace it under warranty. It was during the covid lockdowns, so initially tried to fix it myself, taking the inverter apart didn't show any obvious burns/popped capacitors or anything I could see. Be very careful to disconnect both batteries in correct order before pulling inverter out. -- I assume this must be a common sort of fault.
Thank you for this reply. Do you know if vw simply replaced the charger?

Anyone got link for a new or used charger for a T5?

If you get stuck an ordinary car battery charger can be used - just pull out the kettle plug from the VW charger first. You have a working 3 pin plug still inside the vehicle that you can plug into.

Yes, VW just replaced it with new. It took a month or so for them to get it in. But this was all during the first covid lockdowns when everyone expected a zombie apocalypse and nothing was open. I did see some on new ones on ebay at the time, but never followed them up.
