Reapirs to Webasto heater

Hi All,

Our Aux heater has recently packed in (which is a shame as we've only used it a handful of times) and after investigating fuse and earth shunt possibilities I finally gave up and took the van in to our local dealer (Breeze in Totton, Hampshire). They ran diagnostics and came up with a faulty air fan on the parking heater...cost for replacement part and labour...£600!

Has anyone had similar issues and has anyone found a cheaper alternative please? I recall reading a thread some time ago where a dealer suggested replacing a whole unit which only really needed a service but unfortunately I can't find that post now. Best case scenario does anyone know if there is a Webasto engineer in the area?

Thanks

Adam

Vw is the last place I would go with this type of problem.
Go to a local boat yard or lorry company and ask them where your local cab heater people are who specialise in this type of work.

Action van in Burseldon fit the Eberspacher ones to vans. They might be worth a call to see if can repair Webasto..

Ive used Krueger ltd in New Milton before when we lived down south 01425619869 :thumb I think it was about £200 for a full service.

You could almost buy a new unit for that
google webasto uk and search for a local dealer, it might just need decoking

Are you sure it is a Webasto heater. I thought, at least on younger Californias, the Webasto was the Engine Coolant Heater completely automatic, it was the Eberspascher which was the air heater/parking heater that was controlled via the Control Panel/Remote Control?

Thanks a million for all your responses - its massively appreciated. I've contacted Kruger in New Milton who sound

(oops)...very knowledgeable. I'll post an update to let you know how I get on. Thanks again - this forum is just incredibly useful!

Ah, so they must have changed the spec on the later models as I have one of each on mine.
