So in conclusion, there is no such thing as a 'T7' California.
Not new shape California related but last Christmas I bought a brand new Ford Transit Sport for work. I too was worried about the wet belt that the new Transit and the new Transporter share in their Diesel engines so I opted for the petrol plug in hybrid model which has a timing chain not a wet belt. I’m not too sure the new transporter even has this drivetrain as an option yet but if I was thinking of getting a converted T7 camper I would be getting the petrol hybrid version due to it not having the wet belt
Yup... It is a MultiVan CaliforniaSo in conclusion, there is no such thing as a 'T7' California.
I am even more confused nowCan the mods please change the forum titles and let’s end this confusing madness.
T7 = ford/VW badged van
Multivan California = Multivan California
I’ll confuse you even further, the Ford Ranger pickup can be a T6, T7 or a T8, depending on year.I am even more confused now
You aren’t wrong mate. I don’t know where folk get their info from but it’s worrying. The new California camper, in all its versions, Beach-Ocean are made by VW in their Limme facility, Hanover, Germany, not Turkey and are based on the multivan not Transporter. End ofMy understanding is that the 'T7 Transporter' is a Transit badged as a VW, built by Ford.
And that the 'New California'' aka T7 is wholly VW, a Multivan.
And that they are totally distinct vehicles with no platform sharing.
And that your dealer is citing something that is illogical.
Or you have misheard him.
If I am wrong then I will hold up my hands.
Correct me if I am wrong but to my knowledge VW have never described either the New California or the New Transporter as a T7.Ok. So the Multivan California is a T7 but the ford/VW transit replacement is not a T7
Agreed-the VW-Ford van is a ‘mash-up’ of both manufacturers-think of a Transit Custom embellished by VW. Not a T7.Correct me if I am wrong but to my knowledge VW have never described either the New California or the New Transporter as a T7.
Interesting the roof water test shown, given the discussion about the waterproofness of roof canvas's on here.Great little video detailing the passion and quality checking that goes into German built VW Californias today. I’d like me you don’t understand German, the images and faces do all the talking. Enjoy
It doesn't sat T30 /T32?Just to confuse you further, my T6.1 is also a multivan according to the documents!

Nope, I don't have a transporter conversion. I have a VW California Ocean Multivan T6.1It doesn't sat T30 /T32?
I can see that, but my V5 says something like 'VW California T30 Ocean Auto'Nope, I don't have a transporter conversion. I have a VW California Ocean Multivan T6.1
Is that an actual VW document or something put together by that website? It doesn't look right to me.
Blimey that is confusing
.And from my time in Austria and Germany, 'Bulli'T6/T6.1 Caravelle is known as the Multivan on the continent.
I have found that, when booking sites in Europe and Germany in particular, describing the van as a Bulli rather than a California or even a Transporter makes life so much easier. And from my time in Austria and Germany, 'Bulli'
