Rodent damage...

Just had a second incident of Rodent damage to my Beach. This time its not just the oil sensor wiring. its also the Adblue injector wire, and the exhaust gas sensor wire. Overall a very expensive repair of £877 !!! Swansway have also recommended a "rodent deterrent kit'
I cannot find anywhere what that is and how it works...
I see a few members on here saying how can VW be responsible for such damage! My point of view is that in the 34 years i have been at my location and with 15 other vehicles that have resided on the same drive, and two (BMW cars) are sitting next to the Beach, what attracts the rodents to the VW and not the other cars ? None of my neighbours have had problems. This HAS to be an inherent problem with the wiring and the ways its exposed that make it susceptible to rodent damage. Have any other members had a concession from their dealerships when this happens?
Never tried it but this might be worth trying?

I believe you have the anti-plastic green brigade to thank for your problem.
I’m sure I have read somewhere that VW/Audi etc: have started using an environmentally friendly non- plastic insulation on their wiring to reduce environmental pollution.

Found it.

I had a similar problem a while ago and it cost about £500 to replace a sensor all because what I think was foxes chewing wires. (They’ve also dug up Virgin cables in my front garden before and chewed right through). So far, and I’m hoping I’m not tempting fate by saying this, there’s been about 18 mths since and it’s been fine. the garage4D869B6B-E030-48A8-B039-7457E019BED7.jpeg

We had our Jaguar wiring eaten through and they wanted £5500 to repair it! Got it fixed by a specialist for £80 fortunately. There was evidence they had been under the Cali bonnet, parked next to the Jag, but I couldn’t see any damage. Now we have toilet scent balls under the bonnet. An expensive ultrasonic machine, but I’m not convinced that does much. I’ve used anti rodent tape where I can, but that is very difficult to apply and get good coverage of the wiring, and have spotlights shining under the cars which are on all night which is supposed to deter them. It’s very frustrating, we’ve lived here over 20 years and never had problems before. It must be something they are now doing different with the vehicles that attracts them.
