I'm sad to report that my Cali has just reached 40k after 3.5 years.

Has anybody breached 100k+ in a T5.1 and how's it running?

Well done. I wish that we had the opportunity to use ours more than we have.

I do know what you mean about the mileage, I have also had similar feelings about new vehicles that I have put lots of miles onto. However they are a tool and that is what they are intended for. Its no use buying an exspensive hammer only to leave it in the tool box most of the time.

The engines on these vehicles with correct servicing are designed for galactic space miles. I have seen T5's with the 2.5 engine with 250,000 miles on them and the VW 1.9/2.0 litre engine in VW Sharans used as taxis with 300,000 plus miles on them.
My guess is that the 40,000 miles done in the OP means the engine has just about bedded in.
I suppose regular correct servicing ......... and a little good luck is the key.

I have done 87.000 miles in my 2007 Cali and it still drives like new.

More of a concern is that it's a tiptronic and although the engine in mine is the 2.5 170 I do worry about eventual tiptronic box expenses.
Anyone on here with tiptronic's that can reassure me with impressive stats on mileage ?

Come on --- make my day : )

Our Cali hasn't done a lot yet but experience with VAG diesel company cars leads me to believe that provided it is used regularly, serviced every year, branded fuel used, and generally looked after there shouldn't be a problem.
My company cars had generally done 130-160k miles and were still going well and not using oil. Only problem I had was one DMF letting go and taking out the gearbox.

Ours has done 127.000 km now, and no issues yet. Friends of us recently sold their T5.1 at 460.000 km. No issues outside regular maintenance. Both were from 2008, wit the 5 cylinder 2.5 l 174 hp motor. Hope we will get to the 460.000, too!

We've got impressively low mileage on our tiptronic cali 18000 miles in 6 years), on rare occasions on our holidays abroad we'll get a loud clunk during a low speed acceleration gear change and a good jolt with it. Always worrying when it happens and don't really understand why it does it. I just hope it's a "characteristic" of the box rather than a future expensive problem!
