The Grand Tour

I thought it was brilliant!

Whilst my two grown-up little boys watched it with the sort of blokey grunts and chortles that Clarkson is highly proficient at so I was able to catch up with some ironing, clear up the mess after Saturday's thanksgiving party, catch up with some mail and order some wine in advance of my French trip in a couple of days time.

All done without the constant whine of "where's my beer, where's my socks, where's my keys, what's for dinner or when can you babysit......."

Simply wonderful.

Well on the plus side I liked the first episode but that special forces thing in episode 2 was both naff and rubbishly done. It was like they had a pile of money to spend on something really elaborate with big explosions, apache helicopters and guns.... and couldn't come up with an even half arsed idea.

Looking for better things in episode 3. Another naff one and I may be out

Episode 2 was better than 1 as you would expect. The special forces sketch was funny. I will definitely watch E3 and it is way more creative than the revamped Top Gear.

Just watched episode 3 and found it irritating. I suppose I'll have to watch next week's episode though.

Someone has probably already pointed this out but it's just "marmite"

Just to prove you can't please all of the people all of the time, my 2p worth:

Episode 1 USA: Opening scene amazing - the studio bits average (the army argument and the killing the stars was tedious) - the filmed bits good.

Epiosde 2 South Africa: The studio bits were much better an more natural. The filmed bit was amazingly tedious - there were a few of these in old Top Gear where they forgot they were a car program

Episode 3 UK: Best of the lot IMHO. Natural studio bits and the video stuff had the right balance of car chat and mucking about.

All in all - I am still a fan, but they definitely need to get rid of the killing the guest section that is already boring!

For what it is worth I quite liked the new Top Gear - and now Chris Evans has left I am even more hopeful - let Rory Reid and Chris Harris do the car bits and let Matt LeBlanc do the studio hosting and it will be a good program (especially if they can drop Eddie Jordan!)

I am still hopefull that from the disaster at the end of the Carkson Top Gear we might get two good car programs :)

Best episode so far today, however they must stop the killing of celebrities, its getting embarrassing now!
