Tool for tightning/losening the gas-safety valve

Still no good for hands like mine with no grip! But good tip anyway.
Grip is not so important - there is a collar that just needs pulling inline with the connector. Some good camping stores sell the connector, it might be worth locating one and just try it.

Perfect, thanks

Alan

I solved the problem by fitting the Calor combined regulator and tap with an in-line quick release gas fitting.
Now it's easy to check if there is any gas by just releasing the in-line fitting and lifting the cylinder and giving a shake.
The VW system is one of the most awkward tap/regulator combinations I have ever seen.

@WelshGas I'm considering your conversion to the Camping regulator, I was looking at a way of preserving the old hose in case I want to go back to the original setup. Do you think this cardiac QR would screw straight on to the spigot at the water tank? https://www.cadacinternational.com/uk/quick-release-coupling/ I could then connect a new regulator and hose on to it.

Sorry, no idea. I just bought a spare hose as the Calor Campingaz regulator requires the fitting on the VW hose to be removed. NB, the VW hose is not a simple red rubber hose. It has a very significant internal polyurethane lining. Had to use a heat gun to soften it to push fit on the connectors.
