Tyre Pressures

Probably because they are used to commercial van servicing and 'always' use that pressure without checking what the correct pressure is for that vehicle and tyres fitted.

Very annoying when you always set/check them to what you require. Always check them after Dealer visits now, usually set wrong.
Same here, 3.7bar all round when it came back from the MoT / service, when it should be 3.1 and 2.7.
So dropped to 3.1 all round.
I have the 18" 255/45s

Just discovered an even lower pressure on the front n/s tyre. 21 psi!

Found a nail sticking out of the middle of the tread. Put spare on and am taking it in for repair tomorrow. This is really annoying as they will poke the weights of my lovely alloy wheels and probably damage the finish when they re balance it.
Cynical I know, but don’t have much faith in how tyre garages take care of our very expensive kit.
What do others think?
Take the weights of yourself and clean up the rim before repair!

I have same as you and used to set at 45 but now 50 on advice of tyre place as was getting premature wear, been ok since

I’ve just had exactly the same advice from a trusted tyre specialist. Having had the 235.55.17s set at 45psi has resulted in excessive wear on the shoulders of the tyres. Now upped them to 48 cold which will mean 50 once they have warmed up. Wish I’d seen your post three years ago - it would have saved me €€€€.

I have Tyrepal system fitted and found that hot pressure can rise by as much as 6psi from cold starting pressure on long summer runs.

Is that with winter or summer air?
One of those rare facts that the cold to hot change isn't dependent on which air spec is being utilised.

It would be expected that drier winter air would have less cooling properties that moist summer air resulting in less pressure change??

Things never happen in ones. When I got out my hydraulic trolley jack to take the wheel off, the plastic a case it’s kept in had oil all over inside. It looks like a seal has gone or is leaking. So just ordered myself a new one from the Amazon as the old one has done twenty five years service. Not sure how long these things are supposed to last but the new one should see me out!
Don’t be too sure about that, gas boilers used to last and serviced for nearly 30 years. Now a lifetime guarantee is 10 years !
