Update Safari Chef 30 vs Safari Chef Compact.

After using the Cadac Safari 30 which in itself is a cracking little bbq, I’ve decided to swap it for the Safari compact which uses gas canisters.
Benefits for Safari 30 : spare 907 gas bottle for van.
Benefits for Safari 30 compact: easier set up without gas hose or bottle, space saving, no opening legs etc and easier packing down.

I use a couple of single camping stoves which use canisters so if the vans 907 bottle runs out, I’m covered.

Any thoughts?

Slightly less output 1.6 vs 1.8.
You're saving a kg in weight.
Easier to set up.
No canister sticking out the side in the net when packed.

If it was around when I got mine I probably would have.

Advantage of the ones with a hose is that you can use 907 or disposables and if you set up with quick release adapters you can also use disposables as back up for the van.

Tried to get my head around the conversion from my disposables. Gave up and figured if I run out I'll just the BBQ to boil up.

I got the HP/LP kit which allows me to swap between either but I mainly just use gas canister now, saves the faff of removing the bottle. I carry two hoses just in case I run out of gas cans. Never have.

I bought the LP version as reading at the time suggested it was easier to convert LP to HP than the other way around. That reading may be wrong but the kits work fine.
