Wanted to give a quick update, having picked up the van from SMG Cowfold.
Thanks to the advice received from many of you, I focused on the lowering and anti roll bars.
Lowered springs and T32 rear anti roll bar have made a massive difference to the handling of the van. Feels much more car like now, although clearly the ride is a bit harder, but much less prone to do that back to front wallowing thing it used to do.
Interestingly it has improved, but not completely solved, the van pulling to the left thing I have always had...which is a side benefit I was hoping for.
I decided not to change the alloys until I knew how the ride would be. I am inclined not to change them now as the balance between ride and handling is spot on. Just wished they filled the arches a bit more....although the van already looks much better.
Thanks again for all the advice.
