Just been having a look at my inverter , it seems to me that its been fitted upside down.
The front face plate seems to be the correct way round, but the socket on the rear appears to be upside down.
Or am i going mad?

hope someone can help, thanks in advance

It has 2 spring loaded locking pins which keeps it in position, try forcing it down and it should lock in position, looks like it hasn’t been fully engaged when built up or someone has taken the side panel off at some time and dislocated it to remove panel.

It looks like its upside down.
I say this because the green led light is at the bottom and not at the top , in line with the hole for the light.
Any ideas how to pop the cover/face plate off ?

That should help you fix it.

Thanks for the info, I'll have a go at removing it this week and report back.

fingers crossed it comes out ok....

many thanks

Had a quick look this morning while the sun was out.
Managed to pull the B pillar trim away a little bit and have a peek behind.
Looks like its fixed on by VW melting the plastic pins in place on the back of the face plate.
tried gently prising the face plate , but it didn't want to move., and i didn't want to break it.

Time for a rethink

Yeah, the face panel is plastic welded to the trim. Remove the top and bottom trims, just push fit, no need to remove seat belt, there is enough room to wiggle it over, then the wiring and connector are visible, 2 plastic sprung clips keep it in position. Replacing the panels is fiddly, just take your time and feed the seat belt back through. I removed mine recently to rewire top 12v socket!
