Use as an everyday vehicle?

Welcome along mate. We have several members from nz. Good to here your stories
Beautiful scenery out there you are very lucky :thumb
What van was it you had chipped that sounds like some serious power? :thumb

I had the cali rechipped about 4 months ago (thanks Dave from NZ Performance Tuning). They did a great job ... improved drivability esp grunt in 2nd/3rd gear around 2,000 rpm. Towing uphill is great and am amused by the looks on hot hatch drivers faces when taking off from the lights.

Having said that, I'm conscious of the risk to other parts of the drive train by thrashing it so went for a balanced tune (not overtly power focused) and find the increase in torque more useful. I try to drive it sympathetically, not like I stole it.

As the van is 3 tonnes, the difference is well worth it. I love it.

Cheers

Sounds great! I'd love a Cali in NZ!

Absolutely loved our time there - three months in 1999/2000 all done with a car and staying in cabins.

Certainly using our Cali every day. Very handy - like a HUGE estate car that also works very well as a base for other stuff - like just now. Went to the beach in howling winds and ended up sheltering in the van with the kids. Having just had a cracking weekend camping on ours too, I may currently be the biggest Cali fan in Cornwall!
