Hi, I bought a low mileage 66 plate Ocean in amazing condition. Spoke to the original owner before buying; wrote to him on the V5 address first. He said it was excellent all round. However I noted that the dealer (BMW main dealer) had fitted two new rear springs after taking it in PEx. He also said there was 6 months ‘ insurance’ warranty with the vehicle that they would manage if there was a claim or 3 years for £750. I paid but realised this meant I would then be paying for their initial 6 months. Enquiries in the trade said the ‘fair wear and tear’ clause was the warranty insurers first get out step and on a 8 year old vehicle could apply to everything. So cancelled the 3 years within the 30 day cooling off period and got an email from the warranty insurers offering 1 year ‘ all round’ no wear and tear clause……… for £2000!
Anyway I found a front spring was broken which was instantly repaired by the garage who correctly replaced BOTH front springs. I saw the Invoice for the job. The warranty insurers would only pay for the single broken one!!!
