We have a 2018 T6. The (original) water cap will not attach as per normal. Investigation results in the plastic filler-neck ring (which the lugs of the cap engage in) has come adrift. Investigation with clean fingers and a torch reveals the recess for the neck-ring where it should be attached. I can't see any signs of how that ring was initially held in place - no clips, snap lugs, glues seem to have been used. The plastic ring does not appear to have sheared off either.
I can see no quick fix for this other than attempting to glue (araldite rapid as we are about to leave on a trip) taking care to use a small amount and avoid blocking the vent hole in the neck. This might be hard to shift should further remedial action be needed. The design of the assembly is poor in my view and this must have been a common issue though I could only see one other instance on this forum and tat was ten years ago.
Another possible problem with glueing is that the ring-tank neck assembly will probably not be tight enough allowing water to seep past the seal in behind the panel as it is filled and sloshes about whilst moving.
Anyone else tried the glue solution? I will use a rubber bung for a few days to see if I get a response by one of our enlightened members - if not, give the glue a go and report back here.
