What have you bought for your Cali today :-)

Slooow to start, confusing and unintuitive interface. Can't get voice control to work. Compared to my BMW's I-Drive system it is hopeless.
Agree with you on the I-drive “if all cars were built this way”

We got to use our CGear sand free mat today. Planning on using it directly outside the van when we don't have the awning up.PXL_20210603_173042608.jpg

We got a Nextbase 622 front/rear dash cam system and Autowatch Ghost 2 installed today. The installer made a good job fitting the camera system, and had no problems running the wires from the rear window through to the front of the van, all wires hidden away nicely.

Slight cock-up on his part though was that he damaged the back window pull-up blind in the process - it still works but has a couple of small holes in it and will need to be replaced - at his cost of course!

That’s a real shame, for both parties - hassle for you and their costs will wipe out all profits and probably another couple of days work to recover as well. Not great.

That is a shame. Assuming they ran the cable for the rear camera through the rubber at the top of the tailgate, and mounted the camera at the top of the rear window i’m wondering how they damaged the blind?

Cable in through the rubber, camera mounted on centre of window, wire run through top of wardrobe and down through lighting panel above fridge/cooker, etc..

He'd never done a Cali before, so took the trim panel partly off the back door and removed the blind, somehow the blind got damaged in the process. Oddly enough he then realised he didn't need to remove so much trim or the blind. Expensive lesson, but he still did a great job for his first Cali. He was also the only installer that I contacted who would tackle the rear camera installation.

Dealer has quoted replacement blind at £130 plus vat, with installation quoted at £197 plus vat.

Expensive learning curve.

That’s such a shame for him considering how pleased you are with the installation.

Bought a Bespoke Centre Mat from Ali at CampervanCarpets to match the carpets we bought from him in the lounge area. Fits nicely between the rubber mats in the front cabin area and the lounge area carpets. Not arrived yet but will post a picture when it does.

Some small upgrades

After a week or so this has proved to be infinitely (if not, more) better than the built in sat nav. I now leave the Discover system off unless I want to listen to music (it's not so bad at doing that).

Applied some paint protection film under the solar panels curly cable. Panels fitted in November 2020 and recently noticed some minor marks on paintwork. Polished them out and applied the film. Better to be safe than sorry.
