What have you bought for your Cali today :-)

A window cover for the sliding door since it’s a faff to raise the (difficult) blind to open the door in the night. New cover doesn’t fit though, so it’s going back.

The search continues …..
No problem opening this curtain for us. I lubricate the slide from time to time with a spray of PTFE.

A new security system for our Grand California. Whole setup lasts a couple of days, and planning on getting it looped into an EcoFlow alternator charger setup to give complete self-sustainability.

The wifi unit and camera hub is powered off the EcoFlow, with the wifi using a 5G card.

Plan is to have the cameras on/around the awning for park ups at Britstop sites etc, giving the ability to check outside when inside (and wanting to avoid opening any doors etc), as well as remote security when away from the van.

Went the cheap route and grabbed some refurbished units from Amazon for £48, rather than £140~!(https://amzn.to/3ZB7JtQ).

Watch out for @wildslammer22 he is the judge, jury and executioner when it comes to coffee standards.
I bought one a while back with the plus size portafilter so it brews with around 16-18gms of coffee. It’s actually very good.

I’m sure it works really well with nespresso pods but it’s not something I’d even countenance trying ;-)

Interested in how these attach to the van (or are they all on the awning). If not screwed down is the security system itself under threat of theft.?

Whatever you do, make sure you follow the rules, you wouldn’t want the thief taking you to court!..and if the neighbouring plot has children, they might not appreciate their little ones being filmed.

After some hemming and hawing, concerned it wouldn't be powerful enough or that battery life would be terrible, I picked up a Ninja Blast portable smoothie maker a couple of weeks ago from John Lewis (£45). It seems great. It charges to full in about 2 hours with a USB-C cable, and one gets about 8 smoothies out of that. If the battery gives up halfway through the last smoothie you can plug it in and finish the job. (Not sure if it will run continuously while plugged in, but plugging it in for 30 seconds and then leaving it plugged in, one can get at least one more smoothie out of it.)

I've only tried it with frozen blueberries and fresh bananas, but it has no problem with those as long as there is enough liquid. With a food processor at home, I sometimes use very little liquid and the result is like ice cream. This couldn't cope with that, you need more liquid - with the minimum amount of liquid you get something between straightforwardly drinkable and wanting to use a spoon.

It's quite compact, roughly the size of a wine bottle, so can live in a Cali easily. It's very easy to buy frozen blueberries on the road so it's a way of getting a healthy frozen-ish dessert on the road. Planning now to try vegetable based smoothies too.

@Lee.Van.Cleef I dont mean the magnets which holds it to the van, i mean the opening. We have both a zipper AND magnets as you can see in my picture. I believe the maxxcamp only has a zipper right?

For the rest they are both exactly the same. Even the door can close wit the net still in.

I've got cheap one from Amazon. Looks similar and you can detach the bottle and take it with you, to drink smoothie. I used wild blackberries growing around campsites and added some strawberries from shops and this small box of apple juice for kids. Perfect combination.

Having seen others here happy with their brushed aluminium protective covers, we bought some too - shown here as we arrived at a campsite near Swanage…

A spacemate. Have to concur with everyone who has one. Awesome bit of kit and actually good value when you look at the design details, materials, and build quality.

A little question. Can you slide that thing out completely with a bike rack attached? How far does it come out?
Would it clear this setup?

Well the dimensions are 905 mm wide x 685 mm deep x 120 mm high, and the external dimensions are 980 mm wide x 740 mm deep x 145 mm high

So it would come out a maximum of 740mm. However if you look at this photo its not flush with the tailgate it is in by a bit. So take that distance off the 740mm.

In the areas where a blue parking disk is required this electronic gadgets works like this: when the car stops the display shows the time of arrival of the nearest half hour automatically. This is according to the law in many countries in Europe. So, for instance when you park in the restricted area at 9;42 the gadgets starts showing 10:00. That does not change.....so the parking enforcement officer can see how long your car been there.....he/she checks this gadgets on the windscreen, let us say at 11:54and sees 10;00 arrival time showing in a one hour parking zone, the violations is clear .
