Poll: Who do you insure your Cali with?

Wondered if admin were able to set up a little insurers poll (like they did for the mattress toppers). Might be popular if you did.

there are a lot of insurance companies out there but if everyone can give us a selection of who they want included we will start a poll, it's just that once a poll has been started you are unable to add extra choices.

Direct Line & Admiral are another 2 that cover the Beach. The survey might need to be split between SE & Beach as a lot (most) of the camper policies exclude the Beach.
Maybe add a couple of catch all options to the survey: 'Specialist Broker' & 'Other'.

I have used Motorhome Facts for the last three years and I think they are cheap ( under £300 as far as i can remember) with generous allowance for travelling abroad, no funny conditions for cover etc. I got breakdown cover through them at the same time. Definitely worth getting a quote from them as well.

SE London address they stipulate that the vehicle can't be parked on road overnight except a few night's a year when leaving or returning from a trip have been with Safeguard (Allianz) since Nov. 2009. I've paid approx. £450 every year but the big plus for me is it's all year round UK and European fully comp. insurance and all year round UK and European breakdown and recovery service.

Used LV for about 3 years now, they insured my last car and were very competitive on the beach. In fact they are one of the few who don't seem to hike the price by default on renewal.

We also use LV. Been with them for a long time. Always been helpful and been fast with a loan car in the few incidents we have had.

We recently changed from Comfort to Safeguard using the club discount, comfort decided to increase our premium by 15% even though we had not even claimed . I think you need to change each year

When you get next years quote they won't give you the club discount its for the first year only.

Safeguard discount is for new customers only (however you will be classed as a new customer if you change every other year) and Comfort is for new customers and renewals

Comfort still would not give me a discount for being a member of this forum.
Had to pay £383.50 but don't know how this compares I have never had a claim as far back as I can remember.

My Insurer needed the Reg Number.

This afternoon having run out of things to look at/buy for it I started to have a punt around looking at insurance. Got an online quote from Comfort and was very impressed with the quote. Quote stated that as long as I was first owner I would get a new vehicle replacement for up to 3 years old and less than 15,000 miles.
I got call a call as a result of doing my quote and when I asked about GAP insurance this was confirmed. Seems very good?

Mike - I insured with Comfort and deliberated long and hard about GAP insurance. I don't normally bother about such things but the Cali is such a significant purchase. I was going to purchase a 4 year gap policy and defer it 12 months. However I then had a long conversation with Comfort. Their new for old is exactly that - and only that. They will order you a new vehicle. It has to be ordered by them - you cannot touch the cash. The issue with this is that there is a 4 - 6 month wait for Calis. If you are not prepared to wait then you can choose a cash settlement but it will be based upon current market value - not invoice value or replacement value. True gap insurance will pay you the invoice or replacement value (your choice) and hen you can choose what to do with it - wait for a replacement new vehicle, purchase a demonstrator or bank the cash.

On that basis, I decided to start my gap insurance on the handover date even though I have Comfort insurance. It's a judgement call.
