T6 VW California Delays

I ordered in March and 4 weeks later got PROVISIONAL build week in Jan. VW customer services confirmed they will not get CONFIRMED date until approx 4 weeks before they make it. The provisional date may well move back or forwards but no confirmed date will come until they know for certain it will be on the production line by the confirmed date. All straight forward.

My dealer says they have absolutely no influence over anything concerning build dates. They can (and have) changed my options list 3 times since ordering and can continue to do so right up until the confirmed date is set. Once that happens no further changes can be made.

Got your point, but dealer didn't say anything about November (44 week) being a final conformation date. Maybe it is still provisional build week. Got to check.

What country are you ordering in?
They UK dealers are so removed from the factory they have no influence and no insight as to what is happening at the factory.

I'm back to provisional build Week 39 now. Order mid-February. Dealer expects it to go confirmed within the next few weeks (I think we're in Week 32 now?). Ordered some Brandrup seat covers in May, never expected they'd arrive before the van but I got the dispatch email today.

I'd be interested to know if there is anyone else who ordered in February or earlier still waiting for a confirmed date? If it does confirm then I'd expect delivery in November. 9 month wait time and I didn't even make any order amendments!

We ordered our Beach 17 Feb, but only went to confirmed build week 34 only last week - amended a few things, major change from manual to DSG in early June...
Still seems like a total lottery!

I would agree with that. I ordered mine late March and got a provisional date for week 36 back in July. Yesterday I got the confirmation build date. Looking at delivery early October.

Yep we ordered mid Feb and still don't have a confirmed build date, just the an ever changing estimate from the dealer that is currently end of September. I now have a T5 to sell as we bought it for a summer holiday and its not helpful guessing when to sell as we have holidays booked for September and the October half term that we need a Cali for. Glad we got the T5 Cali as temporary van as its already done 18 days in Italy and 7 in Ireland and 3 weekends away, as a family we wouldn't be without one.

I think I had the "should go confirmed in the next few weeks" from the dealer months ago, now we have the T5 I have stopped asking. If our current T5 was a DSG I would cancel the order as it has become a joke that the initial ETA given was May and we are still waiting with no confirmed deliver date.

If it assists, I have had many discussions with VWCS about the confirmed date issue. They have clarified that a confirmed date will not be given until they are certain it will be honoured. It's generally, according to VWCS, confirmed about 4 weeks before they actually intend to start the build.

Interesting BBC news piece about VW having supplier issues - injunctions flying and all sorts. Doesn't say anything about T6's just Passats and Golfs... I wonder if some of the reasons for the delays are starting to appear?

Just checking, and this week appears to be week 34 (or do VW count differently?) In which case our Beach is being built (probably)

Does anyone have a confirmed build week 37 yet? Ours is provision for then last I heard, but I would have expected it to confirm by now if it was still at that, but not heard anything.

Can you ring VWCS to check?

Spoke to our dealer today and have confirmed (status 20?) order for build week 36 (which apparently is actually week 37 because VW had a 53 week last year?). We ordered our 150 manual ocean on 25 June, so fairly lucky it seems.

Confirmed build week 32 production to start 8th August.

In production confirmed 19th August by dealer. Delivery seems to have moved from September to October, but after waiting since March I'll believe it when it actually arrives.

Seems my situation is better than some!

So if yours was confirmed build week 32 it should be on it's way by now Maggs. In production on 19th August surely it must be finished by now or it's waiting parts.

I am curious about mine.

Dealer forwarded a VW document dated 17th August that says Cali en route to docks in Germany. Build completion date stated as 15 August. No news yet from dealer. Still hoping can get me hands on it before school reopens on Sept 07.

In fact document dated 17th August says:

Status code: 30 - In Transit from Factory.

Location: 40101 - Emden.

So within 2 days of production date, it was in transit. This should give all waiting a good idea.
