T6 VW California Delays

Ordered 09 Feb 16 with projected (optimistic?) delivery date of 31 May that then vanished without trace. Best guess from dealer - autumn if we're lucky.

We got a call out of the blue two weeks ago letting us know our Beach was under production and should be no more than 9 weeks before delivery (early-Aug). Another call last week to say it was on transport...and a call today to say it's waiting in the compound at Lookers Guildford! Three excited children and two excited parents; we've now got to re-re-jig summer plans!

Positive note about Lookers - they've tried their best to keep us updated but have clearly been left in the dark by VWCS. Ultimately we're able to collect 4 weeks after the initial guesstimate; happy with that!

Hope this gives a little hope to anybody without any news. We were there just two weeks ago and suddenly it's all fallen into place!

Ordered our 150 Ocean Manual in the middle of March and now have a build date of week 30. I always wanted it after September and stated this on my order, so the delays were not an issue to me. Even if it slipped to Jan 2017 I would not be worried, as long as we get it before the new road fund license changes in April.
However the original plan was to order in October/November this year for a pre April delivery as we did this last time and only waited only 10 weeks, but the delays if they continue made this delivery time unlikely and due to the road fund license increase very costly. So after selling our T5.1 SE late last year we are having a Cali free year and I must say we've missed it.
So we are getting excited now and we may get a few cheeky weekends away before the weather turns.

We ordered our 150 DSG in mid-February and have been hit by most of the delays it would seem. Spoke to our dealer yesterday and we're no closer to a confirmed week - our unconfirmed slipped from Week 25/26 and now fluctuates between mid to late 30s. He's really frustrated about the lack of information from VW and chases them daily but says it does seem to be 150 DSGs that are the problem.

It probably doesn't help that we've got quite a few extras too which is pushing it further back. Apparently out of his current order book of 25, around 10 are heavily delayed with little information and these are 150 DSGs.

All of that being said, I'm still convinced sticking with it is the best thing to do. Frustrating not to have it this summer but it's a long term investment for us and if we're going to keep it for 10yrs+ I still feel it's best to go for Euro6 and some of the options that we'll all take for granted in years to come like App Connect and ACC.

Now trying to get my parents to lend us their caravan for the summer hols!

I'm still waiting on my 150 manual Beach to go confirmed, it was ordered 22nd February. So it's not just the DSG gearboxes.

I reckon your right though that it's best to take the long term view. My only consolation is the summer hasn't been that great so far.

So excited :bananadance

Sitting in hired Ocean and have just received an email from dealer.
Build week confirmed Week 32.

Let shopping commence..........

What's your current unconfirmed build date?

It was week 31 then it moved to week 34 but still unconfirmed status. Hope to get an update soon.

Summer holidays in the van have been written off. Hopefully October school holidays will be dry and sunny and we can have some fun packed van adventures.

In May when we ordered it was looking like week 33-36. Another salesman was listening to our conversation and sent an email to 'our' salesman. It stated on the email, that our 204 x 4 DSG wouldn't be built before week 44-46. We ordered 23May and are looking to a Feb/Mar delivery. As long as we get it before the tax changes we'll be ok with that. Not good news for you all in currently in the system.

I've now received a build date of week 37,subject to change, with expected delivery 4 weeks later. I maybe one of the few that would be happy for it to be delayed until Feb 2018 !

Received an update today that my beach has jumped forward from wk 31 scheduled to wk 26 (end June) confirmed and the dealer is predicting a 1st Aug handover. Not holding my breath but it is the first time the date has moved in the right direction for me!

Last week I was told the delay was down to the additional seats (a link to "swivel gate" maybe

Enquired on Saturday about whether mine had gone into build wk 26 (last week in my calendar) as scheduled and was told wk26 was actually this week in VW's calendar! Received an update today though that it is now sat at the port waiting for a ship!!!! :thumb
Dealership have been great so far. I have a holiday booked early August and they said they would loan me one if mine hadn't arrived, but they are confident I will have mine before that date.

Brilliant news, Matt, that your Cali is on its way (when it can hitch a lift on a passing ship :) ) but it's also a bit scary to expect (using the term "expect" very loosely here, of course) something in two or three months only to get a surprise phonecall to say that you new van is arriving tomorrow. I don't blame the dealers as they seem to be as much in the dark as their customers are - no wonder the wise dealer hedges everything about with so many provisos.

Do hope yours arrives in time for your holidays :thumb Pickies please wen she arrives.

Best, Windwitch

Looks like nothing will be built for the next three weeks due to summer holidays. Next build week possible looks like week 31 if I'm not mistaken.

I'm back to waiting ... I thought I'd found a suitable ex-demo Beach but after a week of use it was clear that its particular specification wasn't going to work out for us, so I'm back to waiting for the factory order on the Ocean. Roll on October but how I wish I had it for the summer!

Thought I would see if there was any movement on the Beach we ordered in February - there is!
Build week has slipped another three weeks to week 34:( but VW UK are 90% sure that it won't slip any further...That means late September delivery - lets hope it's an Indian Summer.

I have been trying not to think about the delays, ordered in Feb and I have just had word that it has arrived in the country but it is stuck in customs :( so will not be long now. Might even have it by August

So after our week 16 build disappearing into the system and then reappearing weeks later as an unconfirmed week 39, we finally have a confirmed build week 42. Let's hope it doesn't move again and we manage to take delivery in what will likely be 10+ months after ordering.

Went to view it at the dealership last Saturday, delivered to me on Friday. Immediately threw some boxes and kids in and went away for the weekend! Love it and worth the wait!

Spoke with the dealer, and it is still stuck at the uk port awaiting transport that's 11 days since I last spoke to them. Still will be worth the wait perhaps by the bank holiday

Apparently there is some kind of issue with the transport company, to many transporters for the transporter or something

@Skybird f- thats a amiliar story to me - mine sat in Grimsby docks waiting for a transport company for 3 weeks... I did chase VWCS to get it moving in the end. that was during April.

Thanks, these things take time to sort out apparently.
Looking at the weather Summers over now so I am in no rush :headbang

Similar story on my Beach. Ordered 22nd February, my order was unconfirmed week 31 then slipped to week 34 now I'm told it is confirmed week 34. Not long now I hope.
