Just booked a campsite in the South of France for the summer and in the confirmation email it says swimming trunks are not allowed in any of their pools ? Confused and concerned :Nailbiting

It'll mean swimming shorts, you'll have to wear Speedos...

Not on your nelly, maybe 20 years ago but I would not allow anyone to see me in Speedos without a health warning, do they actually police it?

Err... From my experience and the few places we've stayed at off peak times, no they don't. But I understand the French can be very funny about it, size/statue does not matter. You'll look more out of place if you're not wearing them... There are Speedo shorts types you can get...

This is weird, I have been on holiday on many may countries including Asia and never had a restriction on swimwear, why is this only in France? Is it a weird perversion?

the S fell off mine and now I cannot wear them in public without abuse :upsidedown

It depends on the swimshorts you are wearing. You'd probably be fine with these:

But not these:

You have a well toned body, I am sure you would look good in normal speedos

Are they saving for the other half of the speedos and how the hell does it stay on :shocked

I have been ordered out of a pool in the South of France, shorts just not short enough, they did sell "approved" shorts in the camp shop, hardly any different than what I was wearing, when in Rome..........

I arrived at a campsite in the Dordogne last year and due to the extreme heat I got straight in the pool with swimming shorts on, within seconds numerous staff and security run over to the pool shouting at me in French to get out, I did not have a clue what I had done wrong until they pointed at the sign, very embarrassing and well OTT

You can't wear a burqa either. ;)

(Must remember that word when doing crosswords, no "u" after the "q".)

Just brave it and wear them and stuff a Plantain down them.

I too have been turfed out for wearing plain quite short loose fitting trunks
Zoggs do a good short legged trunk version which is not a budgie smuggler
was told the ban was because shorts and Bermudas are often worn by people all the time and they don't change into something just for the pool and so blanket rule for hygiene means ban anything looking like that!
