Hello everyone, I am a proud owner of a new Ocean, and have had it for all of 2 days. We are enthusiastically finding our way round, but I notice that when you stand on the carpet between the front seats and just next to the lino section of the van, the floor depresses, and feels soft underfoot, as if there is an air gap under the carpet. Is this normal? Many thanks.

Thick under felt to protect a wiring loom that goes from under the Drivers seat to under the Front Passengers Seat. Normal.

Thanks everyone, sorry I banged out the question prematurely. I'll use the search tool first !
There is evidently a wealth of knowledge here, and that is a comforting thought.
Nick

Welcome Nick, glad you are happy with the explanations. It can be quite alarming at first when brand new to the Cali to find the world sinking below your feet!

Welcome to the forum, you are going to have loads to ask in the next few weeks so don't feel put off. Do use "search", it helps, but no problems with asking the question either.

Welcome nick!
I had the same „issue“ and thanks to some helpful people on here it was solved!
Would be great to see some picture of your Ocean!

Thanks for bringing this up Nick - like you I found it strange in my Ocean too. Enjoy your adventures and welcome.

Yes spongy, I thought it was Agnes's brain so try not to tread on it :)

Hi everyone.

We picked up our new California a few weeks ago and just come back from our first road trip down to Cornwall for a week.

Generally we are really pleased and love our new toy. We are gradually working out all the tricks and techniques, such as how to swivel the drivers seat without rubbing against the pillar too much etc...

One thing though, is that the floor sinks in the area when you move from the hard plastic flooring at back to the carpeted area in the front cab.

Before I go back to the dealer I wondered if this was usual. Anyone else come across this?

As above. Designed that way.

Using Amarillo as a beach hut on Hayling beach today with the roof and bed base up, I heard a rather nasty crunch as I stood on one foot with my underpants around my ankles. I was behind the front seats in the middle of the van. It sounded like it could be chipboard or plywood cracking. The floor felt less than solid. I heard a similar noise some three hours later changing back.

What is beneath that floor covering behind the front seats? Am I right to be worried?

Possibly Broken/Crushed Plastic Trim piece between Front Carpet and Rear floor Panel.

Good evening, Quick question, does the floor of your California T6.1 sink slightly between the two front seats when you step on it to go at the back? I find the feeling weird and I don'tweigh that much... Maybe it's normal.
Thank you for your feedback.

Normal on T5 and T6 so I would say sound like the same on the T6.1

Thanks Meoncoast.
By normal on T5 and T6, you mean it is normal that it slightly sinks or on T5 and T6 it is normal, meaning it does not sink?
Sorry to ask, but cannot figure out which one you mean

There is a thick foam type pad with channels to cover the wires that connect the electrics/electronics under each front seat.
