I don't like my Cadac Safari Chef 2!

Well, as the regulator is common to both it will regulate both to the standard pressure, so will just last twice as long. But you need both to be present.
Cadac also do a rack for up to 3 of the disposable tins that can be used with 1, 2 or3 cans.

Thought that would likely be the case. Yes, saw the triple rack.....good idea, but not cheap....

Paella pan cooks the lot and easy to clean especially after full English

But I'm not sure I'd like the alternatives better. :)

I have 3 gas appliances. The Cadac, a cheap Campingaz Bistro equivalent, and an Alpkit Brukit as a kettle. I generally cook meat/sauce in the Cadac bow or grill, and a pasta/rice on the Bistro stove. There are 4 of us to cater for - 2 kids aged 6 and 4. We will typically be spending 1 to 2 nights in a place, so speed of setup and stowage is important.

I do like that the Cadac has the built in legs and all zips up into a nice bag and that it is quick to set up and pack, and the lid is useful for keeping wind off.

I don't like that it is such a pain to clean, and food sticks to it so easily. I also don't like that the grill isn't quite big enough to cook for 4 in one go. Ideal if we were 2 though.

Thinking of selling it and getting something else.

  1. I could get a Dual burner stove like the CampingGaz Xcelerate 600 and a set of collapsible frying pans/saucepans. I like that it has a built in stand and windshield, and looks quick to set up. But it doesn't have great reviews, and doesn't seem to be able to do gentle heat.

  2. I could get another £15 Bistro and the collapsible pans and I've got a dual stove set up for little cost. 2 frying pans on the go give me the cooking area for 4 people.

  3. I could upgrade in size and cost to the Carri Chef. I suspect this has the same sticking problems and is still a pain to clean, and is probably takes up way too much space for just 4 people on a 1 to 2 night stay.

  4. Just stick with the Cadac, quit complaining, and find something else to worry about.

  5. Any other alternatives?

Leaning to option 2 at the moment. Anyone had the same (1st world) problems?
If you are getting ride, I will look after it for you.

Re your cleaning problems I am assured that silicone barbeque sheets are the way forward:

We have only just bought the Cadac Safari and not had a chance to fully road test it yet, but at the time of purchase we bought some of these sheets as well which came highly recommended.

Stick with the Cadac but change the cooking pot. Cleaning was a real pain until I used Oven Cleaner (Sainsbury’s own brand). Works a treat and cleaning is never a problem now.

I bought this. The Cadac 2 cook Pro Delux. Great peice of kit.Take Griddle plates off and youve got a 2 burner hob.

If you can cope with the smaller size then go with Option 4 but buy some Cadac cleaner spray. It works a treat if you spray it on in the evening after you’ve finished cooking and then clean in the morning.
This reminds me ... 2 years ago in Austria I was moving some things out of the boot of the Cali when I accidentally dropped the can of Cadac cleaner on the tarmac hard stand ... it burst (exploded!) and foam went every where - EVERYWHERE!!!! The whole hard stand and grass next to it were covered in it, as was I (it flipping stung!!). Spent about 30mins trying to scoop armfuls of it into bin bags or wash it away (while my 3 unsympathetic travel companions watched, doubled over with laughter). I don’t like that stuff any more!

I love mine! Leave the griddle to soak for a couple of minutes and cleaning is easy. Pity I paid full price, I could have bought yours

Lots of options here. Thanks. :) I think I'm going to get the Grillo Chef, with Paella or Chef pan, and reversible plate, along with the little Tapas pans. That looks like it will do a fryup/grill for 4 people, and everything is non-stick. I can use the Bistro as a 2nd burner where needed. The Carri Chef would be nice, but is just too big.

The Cadac 2 cook Pro was a serious option as well.

Hi there, I'm currently thinking about buying one of these as they look great. However, im not sure if I should get the pro deluxe or the pro deluxe QR. Im assuming the only difference is the factory fitted quick release connection?
Im having trouble finding the QR version for sale at the moment so I might settle for the pro Deluxe and just fit the quick release connector myself. Would you have a pic of the gas fitting on yours so that I can be sure it will work before I buy?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards Padraic.

I’ve fitted the QR to mind. It was trivial to do.

The pro has stainless Steel below the burners, and the deluxe has the griddle and grill.

The QR is brilliant. We now have the Safari Chef, Carri Chef and 2 Cook all with QR. We use propane patio gas at home and 907 butane when camping, and switching is dead easy.

I have the QR which is great. The Quick release attaches to the flexi connection on the side.cadac1.JPGcadac2.JPGcadac3.JPG

Cheers for the photos, it looks like the Cadac 2 Cook Pro Deluxe is the same as the Cadac 2 Cook Pro Deluxe QR(Quick Release)
As I cannot get the Cadac 2 Cook Pro Deluxe QR(Quick Release) in stock anywhere I'll just buy the Cadac 2 Cook Pro Deluxe and fit a quick release fitting that I have at home already.

Hey, hows all with you, have you managed to do much camping this year? How do you like the Cadac 2 Cook Pro Deluxe? is it worth buying?

Hey P,

we’ve done about 4 trips since it all lifted. Booked up for a Euro trip in September.

My Cadac is an old Safari Chef.
How’s the red i?

We’ve had our 2 Cook Pro Deluxe six months. All unwrapped and ready to go, but not used. We hope to be camping in France for two weeks at the end of August.

We have done a few weekend trips here in Ireland and planning a possible two week trip here later in the year, not sure if I’ll get to the continent this year.
The red I is going great, never misses a beat. I’m always working away on little additions/improvements, a built in 4G LTE router is the current project.
I’ve changed jobs since last year so the California gets used to commute and for my potential next job my accommodation also. Its a great all rounder.
