1 Bottle or 2

In 8y ownership and many trips abroad the only time i have taken a 2nd botlle with me was on our 3weeks trip in Norway .
There's Campinggaz availeble all over Europe if you should run out of gas , if you check the botlle before leaving a 1/2 907 botlle cooks a loooot of meals.

Must say i carry a small canister cooker , i use for baking meat/bacon outside the Cali and that is my spare.

Is there space to stack 2x904 cylinders in the rear locker? If not, I think I’ll go for a 907 and 901 as a reserve.

If you worry about your single 907 gaz bottle running out whilst out camping your life is pretty good. :)

It’s more that I will forget to check and it will run out at the most inconvenient time. I would rather be able to swap over instantly and swap out a bottle at my leisure.

Yes my thoughts exactly and for 47£ no big expense, but time will tell if it’s needed.

I use a 907 and a spare 904 which is also used for the cadac. Sod's law they both run out in the middle of cooking the same dinner

Amazing with all the tech there isn’t a gas meter...?

Hi ,do you guys carry 2 907 gas bottles when travelling? its just I can’t see how you would manage the gas effectively without the use of 2 bottle.
I have two
One for the cadac
One for the cali

Since I am downsizing from a GW with refillable Autogas and external BBQ point... Luxury :) I have a Cadac and have chosen to fire that up with the 400ml canisters. I have not used it yet but just wondering if I have made the right choice? Anyone have experience of using canisters with a Cadac does it las long enough to fry a steak or my breakfast?

I'm afraid it's nothing to do with the tech just the physical properties of LPG. The only accurate method is weighing the bottle and calculating the residual LPG.

We cook both inside and outside. We always carry our Cadac so use the same size bottle to make them interchangeable if either one runs out. The bottles do last a long time.

Based on zero practical experience (Cali being built next month) I’ve got a Party Grill for outside cooking (Campingaz Party Grill Stove Grill Camping Stove and Grill https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MDQYA48/?tag=eliteelect-21)

I chose it over the cadac as I didn’t like the idea of carrying 2 big cylinders and the cadac cartridge version is reportedly underpowered. The party grill takes disposable CV470 cartridges which take up minimal space, easy to lug to the beach, and are available everywhere.

My underslung LPG tank has a gas level sensor and a level display in the cab, so it is possible.

Yes, gas tanks can have a level sensor, that measures the level of liquid gas. They are also to be filled to only 80% capacity so I understand. Unfortunately the Gas Bottles do not have an internal sensor.
I was referring to the Gas Bottles.

gas level indicator in shop £3.99. magnetic and sticks to outside of bottle..simples..
Not really. You still have to take the bottle out. All it does is measure temperature variation from liquid to gas.

As an ex tent camper I have multiple options - having 907, 904 and cartridge ring. We also cook outside when possible so our preferred combo is a907 with 904 backup to feed the camping gaz one stove, this allows us to bbq, grill, and boil as needed and acts as a backup for the main bottle. This is a personal choice as having several 907 & 905’s due to doing the Mongol Rally & lots of camping, but I do agree there is no substitute to weighing the bottle prior to going on a trip. I also use the Cali as a day van so have a single cartridge ring too.

Did you need the 2nd bottle?

No we did not needed a spare botlle on our 3 weeks trip in Norway , we are just two so just small meals .
And we were not aware that campsites in scandinavia have that good facilitys to have a small kitchen availble with cookers on top of the washing-up area.
We had campsites were there was a whole kitchen and table/chairs availeble , a sofa , tv, books ....to sit when the weather-winters are cold and to meet fellow campers.
