New T6.1 order delays

Just rang my own dealer there for an update as had a week 3 of 2022 build week.
He informed me that it has been brought forward to week 48 and said its 'locked in' for next week. Hopefully that won't slip. That was a nice surprise before lunch.

Well after learning i was at status 30 (van heading to port) and a week of tracing every darn ship there was going to grimsby my top salesman at the vw centre manchester sent me an email simply stating " jim you dont need to look for ship names anymore..... its in Grimsby......

like what an epic email is that to get ? ordered in january and finally finally my actual ocean 4 motion is in the uk waiting to be delivered to the dealer. The purpose of this email is to say bloody well hang in there all of you on this thread, it actually does come along and happen for real. now how painful is this last 10 days or so going to be? Im guessing agony lol but each day now is like ticking off the advent calendar to the best xmas present ever :)
That’s so exciting for you! I believe mine still stuck at port but there will be a big happy dance from me when it finally lands in the UK!

aye plus the 2% options, comes to a few thou… Cheek of them - thanks for not cancelling and waiting 12 months, by the way this is the new price…
Thinking of delivery delays and price rises, has anyone seen anything of the VW £500 accessories ‘apology’ recently?

Not here - ordered mid April, current build estimate is Jan, so hoping to hear something soon.

You can expect the Cali pictures around the 27th and then hopefully a delivery in time for Christmas :thumb
How many day
This is the wrap I have done. Half under body Wrap and a bonnet PPF. From the experience of owning Cali for 7 years, because of the high angled bonnet it has, a Bonnet PPF is a must. :)

That is stunning. May I ask which brand vinyl did you use? Also would it make sense to PPF the top side with the sliding door? I am considering it for our soon to be van and would like to hear your opinion.

Its Teckwrap - mossy green. Told its not as good as 3M but I went for the colour. :)

Clear PPF is a costly option if you go for a whole car. Quoted 350 for the Bonnet alone in my case.

Has anyone else had their van sit at port in Germany for weeks? Hoping ours doesn’t become one of those “lost” vans……

Mine was there for 5 weeks. March 22nd till April 26th. No explanation apart from a 'backlog' at the port?? Maddening!

Yes. We were notified by our dealer that our order was at stage 38 on 5 Nov. We have just received an email informing us that the status still remains the same - at the port awaiting shipping!

seasider i got this from vw chat whilst waiting for min if any guidance you may find yours will ship in next few days

A van can take 7 days to arrive at the Port of Exit from the Factory, it is approximately 14 days for a van to be loaded on to a boat. Once in the UK A van can wait for up to 7-10 days to be assigned to a transporter for delivery to the Dealer. The timescale for delivery is three to five working days. The vehicle is delivered to the Van Centre which carries out an inspection, checking oil levels, brake fluid/ They will then organise a convenient day for collection.

Hi all. So we took the plunge earlier in the year, threw caution to the wind, ignored the eye-watering price tag and ordered a T6.1 California a couple of weeks before lock-down from VW vans (Liverpool). Since then there have been a number of delays and further delays in the delivery date. Apparently VW (Germany) cannot give any firm build and delivery dates. It appears that when it is built it receives a chassis number and then its progress to the dealer can be tracked. We were originally given mid-May for delivery to the dealer which included 4 weeks from issue of chassis number to delivery to the dealer. Since then we have had several revisions to the predicted delivery date, the latest being end of July / beginning of August which is perilously close to the issue of new registrations on 1st September. Apparently the time from issue of chassis number to delivery to the dealer, 8 weeks is now being quoted not the previous 4 weeks. According to the dealer VW are not giving even any rough indications of build completions or delivery to dealer. Come on VW (Germany), where is the communication with the dealer and customer service here. It can't be that difficult to work out and convey this information. You are leaving customers in limbo and causing worry. The news may not be good but at least communicate it so people can plan / cancel camp sites or even cancel the order. After all by September 1st the season is nearly over. I wondered if anyone else is having similar experiences? Kind regards, David and Helen.
Hi David and Helen,
I also have had similar news and worries, I ordered mine in June 2020 and was told to expected it in February or March 2021. It then was extended to August 2021 and the only excuse from VW Germany was shortages in sourcing semi conductor micro chips.
The story was that supplies from China and Japan where the micro chips come from are taking longer than usual due to COVID 19 related issues. Factory closed, factories running at half the personnel and finally a factory had caught fire had cause a major back lock of supply. What can one do, so I just keep waiting. In August not having any news from them I went down to see them in September. To my surprise they offered me the deposit back as they cannot commit or confirm a build date. Now October 2022 has been said and I suppose it is to keep we away until then. VW Germany will not tell us anything else and by the look of things they are not to worried with lose of business.

I think this is probably where we are at! Useful to know it does happen. Thanks.

That’s really helpful and interesting thanks. I’ve lost track of the dates but it’s certainly been more than 14 days. Good to know that’s pretty normal though.

I'm guessing that this is a re-import type order. Those appear to have been put on hold as VW is working on the direct order backlog. It's exasperating to see surprised german customers receiving their vans now within 4 months of placing their order while so many others are waiting for way longer.

Today's post arrived with a bill for my Cali and in my inbox an invitation from my dealer to make an appointment for next week Thursday.
The first time ever that I'm happy to be getting a huge invoice :D :bananadance2
Congratulations! Don't sell it right now ;)

Haha no way... I have my train ticket in my pocket for tomorrow's trip to the dealer :D
Well done; you have a nice day ahead of you. Enjoy it!
Greetings
