MPG - T5 California 2.5l

I have a VW T5 California with the old solid 2.5ltr diesel engine.

My question is what sort of MPG should I be getting and has anyone had there's remapped to improve MPG and did it work?
Was it worth the cost!!

I have the 175bhp model I average 35mpg, not had it remapped it’s how it came out of factory.
