After much consideration ordered GC 680

Hi Murphy any more details about your modified table was it a DIY job.
We ordered a smaller table online and used the bracket and leg from the table supplied so quite straight forward.
The larger table didn't work for us, its something VW need to look at or at least offer both options.

Hi Murphy yes we did add on the toilet ventilation unit, seemed to get have good reviews.

That would be greatly appreciated.
Morning Bobcat, as promised please see photo of OEM cut down table, only bu approximately 4/5 inches but makes all the difference, my reason for not doing more is the leg would have to move further inwards thus interfering with people entering the bench seating. Also thought about a small ledge table.

Hi
just joined after this week ordering a grand California 680, now need to wait till mid March for delivery.

Mark..
Hi Mark, congratulations! I’m waiting for my 600 to be delivered too (around 5 months still to go).

This is rather random but I saw your profile photo and was curious as to how you going to make coffee in the van? I’m on the hunt for a 12v bean grinder.

Hi Mike,

Apologise for cutting in on your question, I use a Nespresso when on shore Power and a Moka when not ok not fresh ground.

Hi mike
I can only dream of making coffee as good as my picture. But I console myself as I did pay for it in Devon last year. Breeze I like your recommendations and will invest once our van arrives.
update on our delivery is van built week 3 currently at port waiting for a ship, dealer thinks with luck three weeks away which is great news.

Hi Breeze, no need for an apology, I appreciate the advice. It sounds like you have a decent setup, I too will invest! Cheers

Yep I did get those offers, we deliberated for so long on buying one but looking back now and at the price rises at the new year and the comments on this site re possible delays I think we ordered at just the right time. The only challenges I am currently wrestling with are,

what insurer should I use ?
where can we buy a fitted sheet
where Can we find good quality seat covers that are in stock

if anyone can offer advice.

Hi Mark,

Re insurers, I opted for LV after I initially cancelled my T6 insurance with them due to their inconsistent messages along with lots of other members with regards what was insured, I think because so many people left them at that time they reevaluated and now have it called as motor caravan insurance. They are the most competitive in my view. I would suggest for clarity you question them thoroughly.

Re sheets I orderd the very last set in the UK back in November, Brandrup is due to restock the UK distributors in March. I would certainly have an order in place now so when they come in you are assured of acquiring some. the club shop with have them eventually and so will campervantastic.
I would also order x2 sets.

Brandrup do what they call second skin ie looks just like what you currently have. had them in the T6 and looked great couldn't tell they were covers, however not so happy with the ones in the GC as they do not fit as well. So to break up the decor we are going for reupholstering leather and alcantara.

Thanks for the advice Will, is their a reupholstering specialist you have in mind?

Hi Mike,

Unless anyone knows differently its hard to find a company that is familiar with VW Californias and relatively local, although I'm not averse to traveling say 50 miles.
So I will possibly use Wessex Vans who seem to have a good reputation. whats your location.

If you go through a broker expect 10% + discount! You’re still dealing direct with the Vw dealer.

Based in the midlands will take a look thanks.
Simon I Didn’t even think about using a broker, wish I had found this site earlier you do receive so much excellent information.
