alternative radio/ sounds system?

I know there have been many similar threads about alternatives to the (watch out the engine battery is dying) in cali radio but am struggling with options - remember Jen mentioning a Bose product, and lots of folk have had complex uprated systems installed including sat navs etc ... but I don't need blue tooth or want to dismantle Herman - just somewhere to connect an elderly i pod and a way of accessing radio that will power up from the 12v system and obviously doesn't take up too much space . Did think of connecting something (what ?) to the rear shelf speakers as they are so accessible but comments seem to suggest that they are not up to much anyway..

All suggestions most welcome, especially simple ones that my diminishing neurones can cope withy ?

If you don't want an expensive remodelling of the Cali, just get a Bose Sound link Mini. Or a similar small speaker.

I have a Kenwood DNX525DAB which is Cali specific and while a bit of a chore to figure out the whole menu, it does a very good job of all devices and DAB.

We have a Kenwood DNX525 with JL Audio speakers and its a huge upgrade over standard. When parked up we use a Pure Move 400d DAB radio which is very small,light,strong aluminium casing and rechargeable battery pack as standard.We charge at home before heading off and last 2-3 days before plugging in for a recharge. These days you are spoilt for choice for portable music systems.
