Are prices due to crash?

I still think the current values of nearly new Cali’s will strengthen as soon as all the Brand New ones with 0% finance are sold.

Whats peoples thought on the market for buying used right now? I am in the market and looking but a bit skeptical as most of these don't seem to be shifting on Auto Trader / Facebook for their advertised prices. The one above that went for sub £50k on a 21 plate has had me questioning things. I had been looking at this one attached and now wondering its value. Any inputs here would be ideal. Never owned one before.

Link is broken

All the time people spend deliberating over the market is time not enjoying your Cali. The one thing none of us know is how much time we have. Don’t waste it. Buy one and enjoy it. We use ours all year round. Memories made are priceless

Yep. Depending on your cost of funds / opportunity cost, there’s at least a circa £5K NPV saving / additional discount from the 0% finance.
Bargain in the current climate.

Delighted with my Surf. As above the all in 5 year deal and discount is the icing on the cake. So so glad I bought it.

Apart from the smaller Claytons, lack of digi dash, chrome bumper cover and loss of fog lights - are there any other differences to an Ocean? I ask as I'm close to pulling the trigger on a new Surf with the 5 Year promise deal at under £60k.

I think it’s a manual roof and doesn’t have LED headlights but I’m not certain

I seem to remember the awning was an extra on the surf.

Exactly. Bought a motorbike recently. Yep, quick spin around the block, tall seat version, yes here, great I'll have it. Even the dealer said that was quick. You either know or you dont

Looks fair value, above average miles.

Personally think it should be £50k, it’s a tough financial market and freezing cold. Not the best time to sell.

So what's happening to PCP Balloon payments at the end of 3 years? Are they Less Than or Greater Than the market value of the vehicle?

Doesn’t matter, you can VT them, just hand them back. With nothing to pay both sides.
Did it with a TT Audi, 10 years ago. :thumb

You can only VT if your payments made are more than 50% of the total deal including interest.

I don’t know about 3 years, I think most people are going for 5 years to keep the payments down.
My balloon is £32k plus change in Oct 2026. I think it’s safe to say the van will be worth way more than that when the time comes. That was on a £10k deposit, £518 per month.
For me it’s all about the interest rate.
0% unbeatable
2.8% ( which I’m on ) excellent
6.9% I wouldn’t touch it. Well I might if there were a load of freebies you could only get by taking it on PCP. But I would pay it off pdq

They always seem to frame it that you would only reach the 50% mark about a month or two before the balloon is due so it comes to more or less the same thing, if the van is worth less than you owe you can give it up and walk away.

True on a 4 year+ deal but on a 36month PCP the ballon is higher currentlyIMG_4830.jpeg

Prices will continue to fall as majority of car manufacturers are struggling due to demand being far below forecast, so will need to offer incentives to gain sales. They will also seek to cut costs so quality might be impacted.

The budget hasn’t helped as will most likely result in less disposable income as employers reduce planned pay increases & bonuses in order to recoup additional costs incurred as a result of the new budget.

Wait a few months before buying a new van!

Demand has fallen because prices have risen so dramatically over the last 5 years.
Why?
It’s the additional technology put into cars, that nobody asked for….
Call me old fashioned, I want dials and switches and the ability to drive the vehicle for myself.
