Are prices due to crash?

Looking at Autotrader this morning, it seems all the New T6.1 that were being advertised have now sold and the prices for pre reg cars have increased above what was being asked for new ones, not long ago.

I think we will now see the values of T6.1 California’s bouncing back up and holding strong like they generally have over the last 10 yers or so!

The T7 Multivan really only makes sense as the hybrid in my eyes. The limitations are something I personally could accept as one man and his dog in the camper. For actual values though the T6.1 is more versatile, as has been discussed a lot.

Whether the 4WD system (I guess they’ll call it 4motion) is enough to make it robust enough off road I dunno. Can you imagine a swamper T7? (There’s pics of concepts if you search).

I’m watching prices of T6.1 4Motions right now but there’s significant numbers of comments on the T6 forum about issues with the BiTDI engines when they hit higher miles (and 4Mo only for this engine, obvs). Is it possible we’ll see a split in prices between the 150 and 204/199 Calis like we did for the 140/180 T5.1s.

No issues with t6.1 199 as far as I am aware different engine to the 180

Edit: the key post for CXEC (T6.1 owners) is this one:

Yes seen this info I believe the 2019 on wards cxeb 199ps engine is fine no real problems compared to vans sold, but how the van is driven will decide it’s future low miles short trips etc do diesel engines no good

I think you’re right though that also applies to the single turbo engines which have fewer problems. A few years ago we’d all assumed the CXEB was a safe buy, mind, and now they’ve done miles the updates don’t seem to have increased the reliability over the CXFA.

I do wonder whether remapping is an issue - T6 forum members are more than likely to have remapped their CXEB/CXEC too.

So are we saying that there are concerns over the T6 204 engine (pre 2019)

But there are no concerns regarding the 204 T6.1 bi-turbo engines? (Though maybe too early to tell)

Have a look at the link(s) I posted.

I did.

It seems to say any engine post 2019 doesn’t have issues, which would mean all T6.1’s would be ok.

Whereas your intro to the link seems to suggest the info is relevant to the T6.1 owners.

Posting to get clarification

It’s perhaps a little early to say for definite on the CXEC engines (T6.1). The consensus from the thread (which I link to) is that there is nothing yet reported.

I’m hoping they have resolved it as I would like a 4mo t6.1!

I hope they have resolved it as well, because we have a 2014 4mo t6.1.
We bought it as a long term keeper!!!

Same here. Used prices of T6.1 4 Motion seem to be very robust!

My understanding is the aluminium EGR was the root cause of some of the 180 bi turbo low compression and high oil consumption issues, some like myself had no issues even at 132k. My EGR was blanked but only at 117k so it may have been fine, I was not prepared to take the risk.

Have VW changed the potentially problematic EGR on the 204 bi turbo?

VW changed the EGR valve revision years ago, guessing around 2013/2014.

So very doubtful that would have put an older revision back on the T6.1
