Brandrup Carpet Mat Sets

I guess the rule is don't order any carpet sets till your van arrives!

Not all T5 Se were 3 rail, Pre face lift ones had 3 rails, then early face lift didn't unless 5th seat was ordered, 2015 MY onwards were back to 3 as standard.
The T6 configurator actually shows the 3rd rail - its listed in the options as 5th seat preparation or similar & is selected by default.

On older vans there are quite a few that were ordered as 5 seaters but delivered to customers as 4 once everyone had worked out that the seats were worth a lot more than the cost of the option.

Think I'm going to wait for mine to turn up. Thanks to everyone for their advice.

Must admit even though our local VW dealer has told us 3 rails (And no 5th seat) i also think i'll await delivery to be absolutely sure. Due to the high cost of the Brandrup carpets and longish leadtimes from Germany (Until the shop hopefully concludes its negotiations) it would be a nightmare to end up with the wrong ones.

My thoughts exactly.

Wow, nightmare:(! Glad I saw these posts :thumb. I was about to order some Brandrup carpets from CCN. They told me the following - "When you have ordered an extra rotary seat in the middle compartment, you have got the third rail. You must ordered separate the extra rail at your dealer when you would like this option. When you have ordered a 4MOTION, this version is only with 2 rails available. When you have ordered an extra rotary seat in the middle compartment, you have got the third rail. Which seems very clear but all your comments about variability.......

I will definitely wait until van is delivered.

You should all wait if you want Brandrup items as they might be for sale thru the webshop soon.....

If you look at VW web site configurator for the Ocean you will find this under the seating options section.

"Preparation for later installation of separate seat, in passenger compartment (1st row of seats) Standard"

It suggests that the third rail is a std fitment if I read this right.

Agree with you jabberwocky, unfortunately the configurator may well have information that is 6 or more months old, who knows maybe VW are saving money, all I can tell you is VW uk and my local dealer both believe it to have two rails as standard (the salesman did check the one in the showroom to confirm this). Like I said earlier, changing the carpets will be a pain so I'm going to wait.

I am told the configurator was updated in June 16, but I still wouldn't take the risk. A few days without carpets between delivery of van and carpets? Worth it to make sure they are the right ones.:thumb

I have bought brandrup carpets today from local Vw van centre Exeter, my Cali has 3 rails but carpet is for 2, rear seat still moves as it only 2 rails, also bought brandrup seat pockets for front seats, and was offered seat skins but thought too expensive, the local dealer sourced though other dealers and were shipped over night

I think if you run the configurator for a 4motion this line item disappears. My understanding is that the third rail should be fitted as standard to all Ocean models that do not have 4motion.

I suppose if you do not intend to install the extra fifth seat in the Cali, you are probably better off ordering the 2 rail Brandrup mats, which would then cover up the unused third rail and prevent debris dropping into it.

Won't the mats be too high where they ride up over the unused rails and foul the seats if you slide them forward??

You are correct Loz, you can't use 2 rail carpet in a 3 rail van as it damage it.

Going by Leeky's experience it seems you can fit the 2 rail carpet in a 3 rail configuration whilst using the bench seat.

Like I've said, mine is 2015 Cali, with 3 rails, I've fitted brandrup 2 rail carpet, the rear seat still slides, and you can hardly see 3rd rail covered
