Just made this.

Print it (or take a picture with your cell phone) and use it together with a luggage weight :)

A full Campingaz 907 bottle is 6,4 kg and empty is 3,7 kg … if you weight your bottle, this chart will give you an indication of how much gas you have left.

[EDIT: New version. First had a typo]

Brilliant thank you

Yes agree very usefull information to know
But practically not , unless everytime want no how much gas left , have go hassle taking rear shelf out & putting back , disconnecting & reconnecting gas supply then weighing , what saga ??

Far better as welsh Gas ⛽️ says carry spare as I do , or another option fit a Gas dial gauge near regulator .

Yes usefull info to check new bottle is full when first buy , also check empty when disconnect .

But think best option just carry spare , still usefull to no the chart either way

Funny :) I made the chart because I wanted to get rid of my spare. I carried a 907 spare for one season. Never again, too much dead weight and space taken. I know a bottle lasts approx. one season in my household, so I only weigh it a few times towards the end of a season. For backup, I carry an adapter for the small canisters I use for the Cadac.

Interesting , iv got cadac 2 cook 2 pro, was not aware could get adaptor for primus type power gas iso butane disposable cans.
Have to send link / picture of it, is it a cadac accessory??
Cadac pan supports brilliant , RIBBED stops pans sliding.
Shame volks never put them on there stove
Smooth slippy grill pan supports are nightmare at times !!

Unfortunatly not. Ist 5 years ago. Will try to remember to take a picture next time I am in the Cali.

The first post in this thread says an empty bottle is 3.7kg, but mine says that empty it is 3.3kg. I suppose the weight printed on the bottle might not include the brass fitting at the top, but surely that itself isn't 400grams?

Do other people's bottles say 3.3kg on them, but somehow they're really 3.7kg? Or do these bottles vary?

Just bumping this because I'm about to go on a trip and not sure whether I have 15% left or 40% left.

My bottle (as in pic immediately above) says it weighs 3.3 kg empty. At the moment, with the brass fitting removed, it weighs 4.4 kg. That would mean 1.1kg of gas, which is 40% of 2.75kg the bottle says it holds.

On the other hand, if the empty bottle really weighs 3.7kg, as in the first post in this thread and found often online, then I only have around 15% left. FWIW, it feels like there is a lot sloshing around in there if I shake it, but obviously I can't tell whether it's 15% or 40%. It doesn't feel almost empty but who knows.

Can anyone clarify whether the 3.7kg empty weight includes the brass fitting at the top? I haven't weighed it and the cylinder is back in the van at home, but I'm guessing it would be at least 200 grams? Still note quite at 3.7kg but getting closer.

Also, does anyone remember if they have seen 3.7kg vs 3.3kg empty weigh stamped on the cylinder. It's possible there's more than one run of bottles manufactured, and the difference could be in things like different detailing/size of the ring around the bottom, etc.

The empty weight is Stamped into the Steel cylinder.
The capacity (weight) of the cylinder when full will also be Stamped into the steel.

The weight(s) stamped on the cylinder is without the brass fitting

Refer to the information on the cylinder, not what others say.

How long is the trip?
How much do you intend to use the cylinder?
Are there any Gaz suppliers near where you are going ?

The empty weight is stamped, but not the full weight. I have looked very carefully for this.

The bigger issue here is whether the chart posted above, and that everyone seems to be relying on, is inaccurate.

The trip will be about 8 days. Coffee and maybe toast for breakfast, something like ridge monkey toasties or ridgemonkey pizza for dinner. (Mention this because this means one burner on low.)

FWIW I've used this cylinder for 4 months *a lot*. Dozens of overnights, usually with breakfast and dinner cooked, again though mostly on low.

Not sure how hard it will be to find a replacement. Will be in Livigno and then later Laax Switzerland.

If you are going via France and the channel tunnel a replacement is simple at most supermarkets. 34€

Ooops just spotted you’re in Edinburgh, I don’t think you’re going via France

yeah, thanks. Taking Newcastle ferry, then down through Germany to Basel and then across to Serfaus-Fiss (staying in flat), then Livigno/Laax. I searched the threads and couldn't find much in detail about places to pick a replacement up. At this point given I think I have loads I'm especially interested in Livigno/Laax, rather than trying to swap it out immediately now.

I've got a brand new unused one.
No promises, but if I can find my travel scales I'll weigh it with the brass fitting in place... then disconnect it and weigh without.

Just a thought... do you have a camping shop nearby that might stock this? If so, they will have both empty and full bottles... they might be so kind as to weigh both for you!

Just type in Basel for the City, or some other place, to show local Camping retailers.
