We use both C Club or C & C Club. We like the small certificated sites. Our van is also insured with Caravan Club which I am very happy with cover for price. Magazine not a bad read. Plus car rate for M6 toll rather than van fee

We insured our new Cali through the CC, (it seems to be a very good package). We had to join the CC to get the policy.
Whilst we are still very new to this life, we have used CC sites on about half a dozen times since. So far we have found the main CC sites to be excellent. They seem to be well organised, clean, quiet and well run and organised by friendly and helpfull people. The toilets, showers, washing up areas etc all seem to be just what you would wish for and more.
We use a Sainsbury's copper plated kettle with a built in whistle. Very snazzy! I did buy one of those Wacky practicals collapsible kettles but my other half poo-pooed it!

Much of the time on my travels, I'm after being close to a specific location, rather than being too obsessed about the type of site I want to stay on. Therefore the more books you have (Britstops, CC and C&CC), the more choice you have and the closer you can get to where you want to be.
If I'm staying a week with my little girl then the 'ambience' of the site becomes more important, but for one or two nights, I prefer the biggest choice possible.

Re the kettle: The optimum cost wise is to carry both and use the elec kettle when on hook-up, but even my avarice (tightness) isn't sufficient to make it worth the while, so just take one for the hob and use the space to carry more wine. Plus it's much more satisfying to boil an old fashioned kettle on the hob!

...the 'wacky practical collapsible' has a certain 'Cali chic' perhaps we have collapsible everything now, washing up bowl, bucket....we have even been known to collapse ourselves after several glasses of red....

We have a stainless whistling one for the hob and an electric one when on hook up, especially useful for that late night hot water bottle and hot chocolate when my daughter has already gone to bed upstairs and the early morning coffee before walking the dog when she is still asleep as you can't use the hob without having the roof and upper bed up.

We also belong to Caravan Club. Have stayed at a number of sites as well as lots of others that weren't CC.

We used to be CC and C&CC but are just CC these days, though we rarely use them so hardly worth bothering with the renewal. They come in handy on occasions though.

No problem using the hob with the Roof Down. Do that frequently when travelling and we stop in a lay-by for a cuppa.
CC useful for the M6 Toll.

Just looking at staying down in the Cotswolds visiting family. The site we looked at was C & CC. Just wondered what people's impression was of their own sites as to whether it would be worth joining?

I'm a member of both, CCC and CC.

The club sites are generally very well managed with good facilities.

The 5-van site network of both has some gems in it.

Both have sites close to London and other big cities which can save a fortune on hotel costs.

If you want a regular campsite, with good facilities, and going to use them regularly then imo the membership is worthwhile.

I think definitely worth joining. Like GrannyJen, I'm a member of both CCC and Caravan Club. I much prefer the feel of CCC sites...grassier, more natural, slightly more easy going. I like the CCC support for tent camping and young people as well as walking/cycling. But both organisations generally set a standard for campsites which is better than most independent commercial sites. The small '5-van' sites (CSs and CLs) are varied but include some fantastic small places to stay. Definitely worth it I'd say.

We joined CCC at the NEC earlier this year and are staying on one of their sites soon. We looked at CC but to be frank, got a better feeling about CCC: And this was before that tv program.

We joined both clubs to give them a try and so far have only stayed at one C&CC site at Drayton Manor to take our boys to Thomas Land, we thought it was well run and nice a clean and tidy.

I liked the CCC, and only ended my membership because I didn't get enough trips to justify the cost. CCC is generally friendly and welcoming and affordable too. The sites are usually very nice, green and well cared for. The affiliate sites are generally private land owners earning a little extra cash. They can vary in quality but we've had some amazing experiences on the more rough and ready sites and they can be very cheap indeed and are often limited to 5 or 6 vans/caravans making them quiet. The last affiliate site we used we spent an hour listening to a bat detector with a fellow guest at sunset on an old stone farm, memorable. The wardens and owners have all been good in our experience.

My experience of CC is only based on my parents feedback, who have a caravan. They said they are considering their membership this year. The people can sometimes be a bit unwelcoming and the wardens a bit over zealous on some of the sites they used. It seems to have put them off and I know my folks are generally friendly thoughtful neighbours so I suspect they have good reason to say that.
