So here is a picture of my van.
The yellow colour seems to be a love or hate thing.
Also the de-badging seems to stir up BIG emotions aswell.
So what about you? What do you think?
Also have you made any colour or option choices that seem to divide opinion strongly?

I think the colour looks great and we de-badged our SE back in 2012 when we got it.

Our van was pre-registered and white was not our 1st choice but love it now Has been called an ambulance on forum at one time.

Love the yellow. I wanted it but my wife wanted to "play safe" with blackberry so that was my compromise in the deal. BTW Dave, on your recommendation was up at Preston yesterday. What a nice chap Guy is.

Colour is a personal choice. Choose whichever you want and enjoy it.
De-badging and personal number plates I personally cannot see the point. Seems like someone with something to hide.

If you love the color , thats all that counts . I would not go for yellow but that's my personal choice.
De-badging a Cali ? i am proud driving in a Cali so can't see why i de-dadge it
again personal choice
A SE or Ocean (or Coast) is to recognize from every side you look at it so de-badging to go undercover is useless.
As is the T6 beach now there's a hook-up plug on it , and mostly the awning ....if not the factory fitted Brandrup-rails jumps in the eye and the pop-top ...

Good you got your "canary" back ....;)

hi davey nice truck .... if u have it de badged do u loose the beach or Ocean on the side or have u done this yourself ? cheers

Brilliant. He'll look after you well.

No de-badged factory option is either engine or engine and Cali. Beach or ocean will still be on.
I got the dealer to remove the stickers when it arrived.

You found me out!
Thinking about it, yellow was the worst colour to hide in!

Debadged and yellow is what we are going for too. I just don't get the California name, and I certainly can't see any purpose in carrying around the engine details. We will probably back out the B pillar.

I've been thinking about the b-pillar too.
I think it's really clear what the vehicle is. It's a big yellow camper van that says VW on the front and back. Not ashamed of the name as some might think or wanting to go stealth (hard in a yellow van!) just think it looks better.

Also asked about the B Pillar - i swear when we ordered the chrome pack wasn't on the options list. Guy quoted us but said he and the dealership wouldn't feel comfortable doing it due to the potential for doing it wrong and recommended we approach a bodyshop. That's definitely put me off buying the sticker and doing it myself.

Useful thoughts. I'm about as careful as a two left-handed baboon when it comes to things like hanging wallpaper. Going to a body shop to put on a sticker does seem like overkill, but probably sensible.

I think it is really nice. Unusual. And de-badging, makes it look clean and tidy.

Like the colour.

Did you spec those Devonports or were they a swap? My Beach will be arriving with default Claytons but I can't decide whether to swap them, and to what. I've nothing against Claytons but I think 17" wheels look better proportioned (16" wheels being too rubbery!) I quite like the understated design of Devonports.

Also how easy was it to remove the awning and were any holes left behind. I've no plans to remove mine, I'm just curious.

Hi Rob.
I bought some devonports from a t5 converter in Sheffield for 535 delivered and then got VW to fit them when the van arrived. Sold my claytons on here.
Upgrade hardly costs anything. :) I think the van looks better and more settled with the 17inch.
The awning was removed by VW too. Cost me £20. Thought I'd let them do it, didn't want to scratch anything! The holes are just filled with the same bolts with spacers or new shorter ones. You can only see these when the roof is up.

I'm always wary of anyone with a de-badged car........trying to be something they are not??
Haha. You're joking yeah?
How can a big yellow van be trying to hide something?
I don't wear clothes with big names and logos on. That doesn't mean I'm trying to hide anything, it's about aesthetics. I think it looks better and cos it's my van I suppose that's what matters. I love that it's a camper and am very proud. As the thread says though, marmite!
