Dubflecta pictures please

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, @Borris, but I've recently been wrestling with fitting Dubflecta Sleeks and their failure to comply led me to discover that we have laminated glass in the front of the van! Even just placing a clip on top of the glass I can't get it to fit all the way on (glass is too thick), and the window is definitely not shutting with three or four clips in place. It's actually even fouling on the Dubflecta itself. I've emailed the manufacturer but had no reply. Any guidance gratefully received if you did go down this route.
Our first Cali had laminated glass and to start with it was a little tricky to get the windows to close properly when the Dubflectas were first fitted. I had the other type though, not the "skeeks". However I doubt if it makes any difference which type you have when fitting. Laminated glass is thicker so the window will automatically open if it discovers an obstruction when closing. That's how it's designed to operate. To get over this, once you have fitted the Dubflectas strictly as per the instructions, you have to assist the window to close fully. (Have a look on Youtube. There is a useful video on fitting Dubflectas). With the door open, activate the window close button then quickly assist the window up into the fully closed position with your palms placed firmly on both faces of the glass. Once fully closed leave it closed for several days before trying to open it again. In that time things should relax and you shouldn't have any more issues.

Good luck.

Hi, I replaced the external VW deflectors that my van came with for Heko sleek deflectors and also had the same issue with the laminated window bouncing back down at times. However they have now settled down and operate fine.

Hi Borris I thought all Californias had laminated front side windows .

I fitted ClimAir but very similar after driving down motorway in torrential rain . A vortex of water formed in the side windows which prevented me from seeing wing mirrors totally . Very dangerous . Not happened again since fitting wind deflectors . Also good for ventilation when raining as you say .

We had passenger side windows smashed in France 3 years ago . The galley windows broke in a million pieces ( toughened ) but passenger window was like an air rifle bullet hole but they couldn’t get through laminated . My specialist auto glass man said they used laminated glass on Cali front side windows for sound deadening but standard vans are toughened so much less secure .

My understanding is that the some SE and Oceans have laminated glass. I think I remember it being an option. However it may now be standard. Can anyone confirm? There was certainly a difference between our first SE and the Beach we also owned then. TBH I've never investigated our current Beach. I just fitted the Dubflectas as usual and after a few days to settle down they've been fine.

Thanks. I've had another look this evening. The key feature of this YouTube video is that if you shut the window and the anti-trap lowers it again, then you repeat, then the third time it goes into 'manual' mode, and you can raise it all the way without the anti-trap engaging, as long as you hold your finger on the button all the way up. Along with a hand either side of the glass (so you need three hands!), I was able to encourage driver and passenger side windows almost exactly into place. I'm not convinced they sit exactly right just yet, but the van is locked and the alarm hasn't gone off yet so the seal can't be too bad. Here's hoping that after a few days in place, I'll be able to lower and raise the windows normally. :)

They should be fine.
